No Utah?

They use insane amounts of salt in Northern Utah. So I wonder about Utah not being in the recall, since it was in the previous cold weather recall.

I just set an appointment to the dealership for next week

Thanks for the heads up! Good to get in there before they get busy.

Your dealer knows about this already?

I called mine and he had no clue...

give it a week or two and the dealers that aren't aware of it will be.

FYI it's getting around to the dealers. Lou Fusz in St. Peters, MO has heard of this, but they don't have the parts in yet and no ETA on them yet.

am I the only one who finds this statement ridiculous?

I would prefer to deal with recalls to get it right then a company just allowing things to go wrong before dealing with it. Being someone who gets the latest tech first in line, have a few recalls is nothing less than expected. They are perfecting issues not known at the time, be happy about it and dont cry about the extra hour in your life that was spent fixing it.

Yes, yes you are. Now there's a possible issue with burning seats from the stock exhaust or something else creating a ton of heat just below the rear seat cushions. This crap is getting ridiculous, and it'll frustrate people to the point of not wanting to make appointments and drive to the dealer every 2 months for a new recall.

My best guess is that the sensor used to be in a position that it wasn't exposed to the elements. Perhaps they moved the sensor when they redesigned the car and forgot to spec out something water tight.

Stuff like that needs to be caught in engineering. I can understand them missing certain things, like the resonance thing on the fuel rail if it only happens at a very specific frequency. But for something critical like an air bag sensor, you'd think they had the spec down pretty tight. It also makes you think about the more complicated things that might've been overlooked.
