Does our car have a built in immobilizer?

I was reading the owner's manual and it showed when adding a key an immobilizer icon. Does this have a built in immobilizer? Is the alarm more than lights and sounds?

How is it activated? By using the key remote to lock it?

technically it's "always activated." the key has a chip that communicates with the immobilizer. without it the immobilizer will not let the car start.

All new cars have immobilizers built in.

^^^true but it slows them down, if they know what there doing.

I have noticed that not many X have been stolen like there was VIII and IX's. More thieves prefer the old models.

Any car can be stolen without a key. All it takes is a flat bed and a few chains.

Yea my immobilizer system was bugging out when the fast key was interfered with. Do not attach the key to metallic objects and do not keep it close to a cell phone. Otherwise... you'll have a dead car

Lo-Jack is an option you can get on the X. It doesn't come stock.

All evo's in the US have immobilizers. Don't ask how to get around it.

i reckon lojack is actually kinda useless. when my previous car was stolen and stripped, damn lojack didn't work of course because it was stolen at night and i didn't find out until morning. by the time cops found it, damn thing was sitting at a park completely bare. useless.

it'll help if your car gets stolen in broad daylight, but then you'd be hanging in either detroit or compton when it happens, in which case i think you should worry about getting mugged above all else.

If your worried about your car getting stolen and dont trust the factory alarm, get an aftermarket. I know that the factory one is good enough for me, plus my car stays garaged. When I park outside I make sure the area is well lit and in the open.
