What would you do - 2008 MR or 2010 GSR

Hey all,

If you could get a 2008 MR (brand new, 12km) or a 2010 GSR (right off the truck) for about the same monthly payment (with the same amount down), which way would you go?

Do you think the MR is a good deal or would you expect it to be going for less than a 2010 GSR?

For reference, In Canada the difference price difference between a 2009 gsr and 2009 mr is $6,000

I know with the MR you are limited in how much you can mod it. The most I would go would be tbe, intake (not sure that it is even really necessary), upper and lower intercooler pipes and a tune (AP ots or custom). I believe these mods are well within the sst's threshold??

I do a lot of driving at highway speeds, so I know the MR makes more sense from that pov. Not to mention the MR has more creature comforts.

Other that the color lcd, is there anything significantly different in 2010?

I would also get the 2010 gsr. 2008 models are 2 years old at this point. The color LCD is also really nice. Also, I don't think that 6th gear on the MR really drops the RPM's that much lower than the GSR's fifth gear. If you cruise at 75 mph or under, I don't think it's a big deal on the GSR.

Interesting responses so far. I figured someone would be voting for the mr.

I am likely going to take them both for a test drive on Saturday - assuming the weather holds. so that will help me get a better idea as to rpm/noise at highway speeds.

And true the mr is 2 years old. But has only 12km and there haven't really been many changes between 2008 and 2010. But still, I hear what you are saying.

Please keep the comments/opinions coming.

Well, I would be driving daily. Stop and go traffic a lot of the time.

Would eventually mod as well. No more than a tbe, intake, upper and lower inter cooler pipes and a tune. I think the mr's are fine with these amount of mods, right??

I had never really considered the mr because there was no way I was paying a $6000 premium. Now that the prices are very similar, gotta admit, I'm thinking about it.

i drove the MR when i was trying to buy, and boy was i disapointed. i dont care what anyone says, automatic FTL. unless you need the auto for say the wife to use, alot or DD, or you dont have any plans to mod i can see the reason for it. If your looking for a sports car thats mod friendly, faster in the long run, and cheaper to fix/mod get the GSR. All though the interior is better on the MR...just not worth the Auto.

Given the choice, having made it once already I would still buy the GSR.

That said at least with MR you'd get the nicer rims.
