Had a surprise snow storm in the area. A few inches of snow fell, and I was on the stock advans and put the car in snow mode and took it slow. It took me home safely in one piece. For long distance snow storm travel, I would definitely recommend a winter change of tires for piece of mind.

I had my wife driving my evo in the snow thinking it would be safer for her. She complained that it slid around corners and I didn't belive her until I tried it. The car is primarily RWD so the stock tires and RWD is a horrible combo. Once the car breaks lose the FWD kicks in and you usually regain control before running off the road. :P (I only tried this on wide areas to test it out)

I don't plan to buy snow tires so I just parked it in the garage for the rest of the winter. Washing a car when it's sub 40 degrees is not fun...

the car is based on the FWD idea.
And you need winter tires or at least all season. The Summer tires are not for snow and wont matter which car and drive train you drive.

the rear and center differential aggressiveness needs to be set to "snow" on the steering wheel switch too. Even on dirt roads, it's almost dangerous to leave it on the tarmac setting when the boost hits with that wave of torque.

You'll be going no where fast with the stock performance tires. Get a set of snow tires and then you're in bussiness.
