Was a "tear down" of what components were used ever released? IE, the turbo, all that good stuff? Or, hell, what clutch are they using?

Crazy to pay 50,000 GBP for an EVO FQ 400. No matter how you look at it, it's way too much money. You can get a slightly used Porsche 997s, a low milage e46 M3 CSL (yes, the real thing) or just buy a JDM EVO X RS and do some mods that get you close to the EVO X FQ400 for much, much less.

It's an amazing car, but I can't justify the rational to buy it. Why do you think they charge so much for the FQ cars? I've seen them in person a few times. They look great, but still an EVO.

The FQ 400 is a production car that is meant to be a super car beater. It's in a completely different market than the regular Evo Xs. It's also not meant for people that mod their cars. It's meant for someone that wants a decent car right off of the show room floor. Otherwise you're 100% correct... It's quite easy to obtain those #s in a GSR. Do remember though, it's not just about the engine. It has some serious brakes, suspension, and wheels that go along with that price.

Yes Clarkson does own (or owned) a X. He's wrote about how he prefers it to his Lamborghini for various reasons

A nicely modded Evo with a warranty and some resale value...that doesn't happen here.

I loved this FQ 400 since I saw it about a year ago. The front bumper resembles a 9 with the charge pipe holes and the exhaust in the back is a single outlet in the middle, definitely a piece of modern art.

I'm not so sure about the exhaust in the back. I mean cool looking I guess, sucks if you want to mod it though.
