DUDE, you gotta post a source before you start rumors/threads like this. You're using unfounded speculation to fuel more unfounded speculation. It's fun and all, but C'mon Man!!!

Agreed that they need a better line up of cars. But, Product is one of the 4 P's of marketing So, the guys comment about Steve Jobs (or someone with his qualities of leadership and an insatiable drive for product design and innovation) could be a very good thing for Mitsu.

First off, people need to get things straight! The Raider is not made by Mitsubishi, it's the alter ego of the Dodge Dakota. Mitsubishi produced the Mighty Max from 81 to 94, however chicken taxes drove them to find new ways to market a pick up and what better outlet than Dodge's US facility, not to mention it's literally identical to the Dakota rather than body moldings (so there's little to no cost involved for redesign)! Do some research on the L200 or Triton, if brought to the US it would stomp mud puddles out of Toyota, Nissan, GM and FORD. The Mighty Max was a legend in it's own right and eventually became the L200/Triton.

Their marketing is horrid, between cost cutting and bad PR Mitsubishi commercials are few and far between (however, I did enjoy the global blanding commercial). The Eclipse needs to be a two door version of the EVO, the Outland looks awesome and performs well. The Galant needs a redesign as well as the Endeavor but both are basically bullet proof!

Mitsubishi makes everything from pallet jacks to lasers, the company has been around since the 1800's and were known for the ships at that time. They A6M Zero kicked the teeth out of our fighter planes during WWII (until the US planes improved). The triple diamond logo is far bigger than most people think.

Mitsu is real big in some places, but not in the USA. They even do better in Canada than here. What you have to understand is 1) 'The Chicken Tax' which means you have to assemble the cars in the US or pay an import duty, ans 2) our emissions laws which prevent a lot of the trucks and SUV's with the cool diesel engines from being sold here. So we got a couple of good cars and nothing else to buy from . I'm sure the factory is just bleeding money right now too.

Mitsubishi Group is one of the strongest group of corporations in the world. Mitsubishi Bank being the LARGEST in Japan for example... Mitsubishi Motors on the other side is a struggling branch of the Mitsubishi Group and they're better off getting another Car Maker to buy them and getting new people in the top level that can make better decisions. Thank God they still have Engineering power. I wonder how come they haven't left to other brands.

The only thing that's going about Mitsubishi right now is a Merge with PSA Peugeot of France.
And the sooner, the better.

Mitsubishi Canada has managed some record sales months this year while other manufacturers are in a downward spiral from the recession. It seems MM Canada does much better advertising as well we get 5/10 year warranties. Lots of Lancers, Outlanders, and Eclipses on the roads here.

However they really need to do something with the Galant. It's way too bland and boring looking. Only Honda and Toyota can get away with selling bland, vanilla to the masses. Mitsubishi needs to follow Mazda's route of selling something more exciting than the competition as you have to have something compelling to steer buyers from a Camry or Accord and there's nothing compelling about the Galant.

I believe that Illinois plant is the old Diamond Star Motors (DSM) plant that makes Galants & Eclipses. It's no wonder they are looking at shutting down for a few months. It seems like the US management has been poor compared to other regions. Help could be coming as they are bringing in some of their golbal small cars like the Colt which are pretty good vehicles and a little brother CUV to the Outlander that is pretty handsome.

So you are saying a specialty car that sells in very, very low volumes is to blame for the hardships? You think a couple of minor recalls is to blame for the hardships? I blame people like you for spreading ignorance.

The problem with mitsu is that they are in no man's land. not cheap enough to compete, not sporty enough to compete, not economic enough, not luxurious enough, not reliable enough (perception at least), not trendy enough (marketing), etc. etc. etc.

they have to have a niche and stick with it. they are never going to be the next toyota, but they can sell more cars if they stick with a plan. if they go sporty then why dont we have a 350-400 hp evo? if they go luxury then why are their interiors still sh*t? if they go cheap then why is the lancer GTS almost 25k? that's civic si territory if you were in the market for a sporty compact car...

what they need is a plan, stick with it, and market it. they have no angle. a comedian without a schtick...

The Raider Truck. What a f..... joke of a truck. Now they only make 2WD anymore.

The Montero was a great car. Many people ask for them, but we could not import from Mexico,
where they are still being sold.

I saw many Monteros with 250,000 miles, owners said the still loved their cars.
the montero /limited here in the US/ is the one of the best car from mitsubishi. They have at least a same prestige as a Evo in racing.

I wish they bring the new one here . I drovbe one 2009 Pajero turbo diesel in EU. It is absolutely awesome!

I currently have an 06 Montero limited. with 60k miles in it. I never had a problem since i got it. I even tow my race car with it

The cars need more to them. They are so basic (other than the evo and eclipse) the cars just look so budget. Design a car just as honda or mazda has done that has sex appeal and see the money roll in....

Outlander has bold styling, nothing looks remotely close to it on the road.

I don't get why people are complaining about the X recalls. It's a new model car people! This can happen with ANY new or redesigned model car! And they are just stupid little things that were recalled, the worst (imo) being the airbag sensors, which was more of just a precaution than anything. It's not like people's cars are bursting into flames and exploding while they were driving down the road (Which has actually happened to cars in the past).

To give an example, my sister and I both owned 2005 G6s (Which was the 1st year they came out). Between both of our cars, we had bad brakes, heat shields falling off, bad starters, power steering failure, electrical problems, terrible cabin noise/vibrations, and uneven tire wear to name a few. All of which I'd say are worse than anything I see complaints about on here.

I guess people need SOMETHING to complain about, but this is just nit-picking, there's nothing seriously or catastrophically wrong with the X or the lancers. Let alone any new/major problems from the previous generations.

I do agree, they suck terribly at marketing, but the products themselves are not the problem.
