"Mitsubishi product strategist Shinichi Kurihara said at press event in Japan last week that if the automaker’s newest vehicles don’t sell well in the United States, the automaker might not be able to stay in the country. Kurihara said the vehicles like the Outlander, Lancer, and Eclipse have to “be successful for us to stay in business in the U.S.” In recent years, Mitsubishi has seen sales and revenue fall considerably."

Hmm, I did some research and nothing is popping up, many people have said this to either slag the company or make future predictions based on Mitsubishi history in the US. I think Mitsubishi is fine, sure they aren't what they once were (America's fastest growing import brand), however I still think there's a strong demand for their vehicles in America.

They want to be away from the union shop just like every other brand that makes money, but there isn't enough demand right now. I think everybody is going to have to wait a year or two for people to wear out the used cars they are holding on to and that are totally available with nobody driving to work.

They need cars that don't suck first.

Outside the EVO and Ralliart, the rest of their lineup is a bag of suck served by dealerships that hate you.

Yes, their dealers need to be shipped in from Japan too, along with some brand knowledge...

I beg to differ on their line up! The Outlander GT now sports the EVO front fascia and EVO SAWC and a 230 horse V6 with neutral logic to boot! The Eclipse is arguably more reliable and produces better number (stock form) than the previous models, however the Eclipse and Galant need a serious revamp. The Endeavor (considering it's age) was quite the one,two punch!!!

P.S. I agree, they do need to bring their own dealerships from Japan.

Mitsubishi is ditching the whole car scene and permanently going to make LED HDTV's only from now on.

Yup and it is damn hideous IMO, looks like a Frankenstein job. I like the previous one better.
