have my eyes set on the '10 MR Touring. but i don't want to spend close to 40k on a part time car. it will be my daily driver. anyone else use their X as daily driver and feel free to share your experience. thanks.
I DD my 2010 X GSR and would not have it any other way. EVO's are meant to be driven, not to be garage queens IMO. I am on my second EVO and I love driving it everyday.
Sure it rattles and trunk space is small and it get's "OK" gas mileage, but it's FUN as all hell!!!

I bought a 2010 MR Touring because I thought it would make for the perfect daily driver... a few tweaks, and it does. It strikes a perfect balance of utility and performance, especially if your idea of balance tips towards performance. It can be a gaz guzzler if that is a big concern for you... just wear lighter shoes.

my main concern is the motor. sorry for my ignorance, i'm not that family with Mitu's MIVEC turbo. for a small displacement motor 2.0 to pump out 300hp and 300 ft/lb of torque, i'm a little concern it'll die early or running into problems when the mileages piling up. my other concern is does the car over heat during the summer. i've owned an '06 Audi A3 2.0T before and that car got real hot during the summer time. thanks for the replies.
It's a fine DD, but I can't imagine not having multiple cars, primarily because I'm incredibly stupid and take three days to do an exhaust, or a day and a half to install a UICP.
How heavily do you plan to mod the car? Do you plan to do mods that require excessive downtime, or trips to shops for the more involved work? If your local tuner needs three days to add that super sweet turbo, what will you drive; a Huffy bike, or another car?
You'd be hard pressed to find a car on the market that isn't a "good DD". It only becomes a "bad" DD when you do things to it to make it that way.
Well, yeah. It's a small motor with a hilarious turbo. There's plenty of 4G63s out there with a lot of miles, stock and modified, so Mitsubishi does have a fairly good track record in my mind, at least for that angle of reliability. But, this is a whole new motor, so who knows. I don't think anyone has broken 100k yet, heh.
What do you consider "high miles"? Are you planning to put 30k a year on the car? That would be reason enough for me to say "no yuo!" to an Evo; the gas mileage is hilariously bad. I

In a few months I'll have double the stock horsepower. I'm not really expecting it to be as reliable as a stocker at that point but it is my only car.
my uncle owned almost the same car and the intercooler died fast, turbo died fast, whole car died fast might be a audi specific issue as long as you get a turbo timer you should have nothing to worried about it.

nah, just normal driving, about 15k/yr. and i'm planning on doing any modding (easy for me to say now when i don't have the car yet).
I'd wager the MRs will end up lasting longer and requiring less motor-related maintenance long term. The GSRs manual makes you want to shift at a higher RPM; bee-bopping along in Normal mode in the MR runs a lot lower RPMs and would lead to less wear and tear.
i have my mr as a dailydriver but i just use it to go from home to work and then to the gym and then back home i dont do any supermarket shopping with it so i dont care about the space in the back also i use the freeway a lot and rarely find myself in traffic so i get good mpgs the only thing i complain is that the interior rattles nothing different from any sportcar my friend ferrari f430 has more rattles then my evo!
I commute to the city everyday so I normally only drive my GSR on the weekends, but it is my only car and if I didn't have to commute she would be my DD and I wouldn't have it any other way IMO.
