Agreed.
I love the 5 speed and personally wouldnt want the MR or its transmission.
The drone occurs around 4000 RPM as others have stated and while some seem to hate it , its music to my ears. It reminds me of my old KZ1000R especially when engine braking.
If you dont like it dont stay at that RPM but that is the sweet spot, around 4000-6000.
On the HWY 80mph is right around 3800rpm. If you want to go the speed limit youll be at about 3400. I recently had to go 65mph for several hours while commuting through a certain state and I got 28mpg.
This car has 310lbs of torque so Im not sure why everyone has to "Rev the hell out of it" to get anywhere. Now, if Im driving "Spiritedly"...thats another story-

GSR is my DD...can you live with the trunkspace?
Note - Make sure you can live with the limited trunk-space. I had to pick-up 3 people from the airport last week, I fit 2 small rollers in the trunk, 1 large roller between the passengers in the back. And everybody had to put their carry-on bags on their lap. This car has Miata-like-sized-trunk-space.
Otherwise - No problems with the EVO X as a DD!
My car is my DD and only car.
The JDM goodness on it has incurred some scars, but it's all good.
I hope to get it around 450 WHP. That will be a fun DD. I don't drive much though. I go to work 3 miles away and go to school 10 miles away.

I DD my 2010 X GSR and would not have it any other way. EVO's are meant to be driven, not to be garage queens IMO. I am on my second EVO and I love driving it everyday.
Sure it rattles and trunk space is small and it get's "OK" gas mileage, but it's FUN as all hell!!!

My GSR is my only car, bought it new, it's daily driven, and I've owned it for almost a year now (put about 12,000 miles on it so far). In fact this is my first Evo (ex-Subaru owner). Driving this car in rush hour traffic isn´t that bad, way easyier than clutching an older Mustang.
Likes: The handling is amazing, power is pretty good (after the Cobb tune and performance parts), and I really like the styling of the car. Overall I'm very pleased with the Evo X, makes my old 2007 WRX seem like a econo-box.
Dislikes: Launching the car is tricky, interior is on the cheap side, shifting in cold weather is tough sometimes, no auto dimming rear view mirror or heated outside mirrors, small gas tank, and seeing out the rear window when backing up is next to impossible (SSS wing doesn´t help either).
My Evo X has been pretty dependable, but it did have to go to the dealership for warranty work, a new steering wheel sensor and three recalls
, and for piece of mind I installed a new green fuel pump relay.
