Pretty much. Sometimes its ok but during a normal drive (15-20 minutes) it'll act up at least 3 or 4 times. Really makes it a pain in the *** when you can't get the car into gear trying to get going at a stop light. I mean, I can get it in there, but I gotta screw around with it and pop the clutch a little to get it seated. It's completely absurd. My buddy (who knows cars) cringes everytime I go 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd because of the crunching grinding noise. Again, its not EVERY time, but its far more than a car of this caliber should ever be doing it. And no, I don't beat the hell out of my shifter and yes I know how to drive. Been like this since Day 1. Once I get driving around for a bit it seems to level itself out nicely. At least twice a week tho I have an issue getting into 1st or 2nd or reverse, mostly when I first get going tho. I'm going to have to hope TWM can save me a little frustration.

I get the same exact thing with the same rare frequency. I'll pop it into other random gears then go back to R and it usually works.

Has anybody seen this post about the TWM short shifter for the 2010 MazdaSpeed 3? Look for the posts by DarkSpeed3. He has posted YouTube videos as well. I was seriously considering getting the TWM but that story shakes my faith in the company.

Actually, all you need to do when that happens is to put the shifter back in neutral, release the clutch, depress it again and then retry. It has worked for me everytime.
