i have one. it's a bit not what i expected. the videos are all recorded in that "first person action" style...not sure what it's really called, but i mean the videos are all rounded and curved, you can't get a normal, flat 2-d shot with it. the sound quality wasn't as good as i had hoped, considering that it was marketed to cancel noise effectively. but otherwise, it does very good 720p hd, and it lasts a good while. i suppose it's good for clips to insert between compilations...

audio i would rate it a 6. not sure what it is with the cam, but it just can't capture audio very well. if you try to use it for interior action shots, it's almost deaf, as in it can't record any sound at all. it can't even record my bov release noise from the interior, which is quite audible (stock bov, mind you). outside, it doesn't cancel out *all* the wind noise, so don't expect that. again, it still doesn't record sound very well. but when i floor and it gets super loud, it does catch that at least

video is a 8.5 out of 10. the video quality is superb, it goes up to 1080p as well. but the wide lens may be a deal breaker for some. it doesn't do very well at all in low lighting and dark situations, but that's expected of such a cam.

I have the non hd and I love it, was a little upset the hd came out a month after I bought it but I love it still. As for the sound, it has two modes low and high. Set it on low if its mounted outside the car and hi if its mounted inside the car and the sound quality is fine. I love it, did the interior footage with it... Listen to how the engine sounds

I'd recommend it definitely!

here it is on the outside of the car. we litterally took it out of the box and put it on the car without messing with the audio setting so it is fairly quiet. but you can see the video quality and how sturdy the mount is. the car is a 09 GTI.

Having tried both the WIDE non-HD one, and the HD one, I HIGHLY recommend the HD one. It's much more refined and has many more features (rechargeable battery especially, but also multiple shooting modes/resolutions, and supports up to 32 GB cards vs 2 GB on the WIDE).
The audio doesn't work that great if you mount it outside; you get tons of wind noise at any reasonable speed, despite what they claim, even with the solid back door on the case (there's a vented one if you wanted more sound but no waterproofing). You also get some rattles as the camera bounces inside the case. But 1080P in such a small size just can't be beat.
I don't mind the wider angle; some people say that things look distorted, but on 1080P it's at 130 degrees FOV or so and I think that it looks great, and it isn't as bad as the 170 degrees FOV on the lower resolutions.
The picture mode takes 4:3 (approximately) stills, which are a bit distorted (looks kind of like a fisheye). You could correct them in Photoshop if you really wanted to. It looks like this:

One last note: the cases for the regular one and the HD one are different. The HD one has a slightly bigger camera body.
