He already chimed in...

I wish the 135 came in an AWD like the 335 does...

My girlfriend has one, no one has complained yet. I would get a 135i, but they are the same price used as a 335i.

Good luck with it.
My Fiance leased a '06 325i Sedan & then a '08 325i Coupe for two years each. Sedan had 13k on the clock at lease end and the Coupe went back this December with 9,500mi. No lie, probably the most unreliable cars ever. And I'm the one that recommended her to BMW. Whoops!
Everything from failed steering racks, to loose HIDs, to Auto-climate system that had a mind of its own, driver seat once broke in the folding position, mud flap came loose, tail light went out twice within 2 weeks, check engine lights randomly went on with no reason, seat belt mechanism that would give you the belt(stupid) would get stuck 7 out of 10 times, etc etc.
And the worst part is that the douchbag BMW service staff looks at you like there is no problem and that your crazy. They have this notion in their heads that they know everything and you know nothing.
I once had the coupe shut die on us while driving and their excuse was that it was the fuel we were using. I ALWAYS put the recommended fuel(premium) and when I let them know that, they said that I should mix Premium fill-ups with Regulars. LoL, what!?
When I braught the car in because of the light problem, I told them that they would shake a little after you would hit a bump. It was a problem that started happening shortly after we picked up the coupe. THEY told me that they didn't see any problem and that it was normal. I told them that I wasn't stupid and that I have owned cars with HIDs and at the time was working at a Porsche/Jaguar/Aston Martin dealership so I KNOW it wasn't normal. After that conversation, I got the car back and the symptoms were gone.
The coupe was returned with a bubble on each tire(POS BF runflats, RE050s)http://forums.automotive.com/70/1100...ems/index.html.
After fighting with BMW/service/BF over the phone over a dozen times and then threatening filing a lawsuit against them, they never sent me a bill.
The past 4 years has open my eyes to BMW alot. You couldn't pay me to drive any of them again. I can go on and on and I'm sure i'll keep remembering things, but I'm going to stop ranting.

Good luck with your 135i, you might need it.

I test drove a 135i when shopping for my Evo; damn near bought it too. Different car than the Evo, but was still fun as hell.

Enjoy!

BMW completely missed the mark with the 135i. It was supposed to be them going back to the basics and giving their enthusiast customers a no frills, inexpensive, and fun sports car. Just like the original 1 was. The car is still over weight, doesn't handle that great, and has a ****load of useless stuff on it. Ya you can make it quick, but it isn't what it was supposed to be.

Man what I wouldn't give for BMW to make a real drivers car again. The only car I ever drove that can compare to the Evo is the E30 M3. Now that was a drivers car. Oh well.

wait for the M1! According to Autoblog and a few other related folks, BMW is hard at work on an M version of the 1 series! You might regret getting the 135i if the M1 comes out soon.

My buddy also had an '01 E46 3 series(with some Dinan mods) that never had any problems. I guess times have changed. The more useless technology that cram into these cars, the more unscheduled service visits you'll have.

i also considered the 135 when I got the Evo. I thought it was way too expensive for what it was. The price difference between it and the 335 coupes was not great enough. I just wanted a stick and the sport seats. A basic car. But couldn't find one like that anywhere in the country, it had to be ordered. Most of the dealers didn't even have a 128 or 135 with a manual to test drive

All in all I think it is a cool car. Just a bit bloated.

I'm getting a used one at an incredible deal. It's about $5,000 more for the 335i which I love but I dont want to overextend myself financially so I'm settling with it(still not too shabby). I'm keeping mine stock except for some cosmetic mods but I've heard of people dropping about $2200 and pushing 390whp w/out a hitch. Insane!
