Yeah I'm not sure how it would work in an auto, not sure if pumping the gas pedal would work. But you can try, or you can just roll it onto a flat surface and try again and it should start.

 

Our cars do have fuel pickup issues--the hanger is toward the driver's front of the tank and the fuel will go to the rear. Try not to park in a nose-up position...back in and park nose down if possible. If you drive much on road courses then a surge tank will solve this problem as well as the left-hand turn fuel starvation issue.

If you're on a flat surface then I had this problem once per week when I first got the car. Getting it tuned completely solved it...on the `08 there's something wrong with the cold start enrichment tables.
