Just got my first Evo during the weekend. Test drive both, you'll feel the difference.

In the end, it will end up again as a "personal choice"
This is why Mitsubishi offer 2 options MT or SST.

Look all the people who keep saying bad thing about the R35 Tranny... but they didn't had a choice tho LoL.

I regret I bought a GSR now... I get nausea driving in the traffic switching first to second to first to neutral... only if i spent that 2000 dollars... I totally think MR is worth it, especially for someone like me who doesn't do much mods.

that's also a good point. i went to the dealership intending to buy a gsr, but when we started haggling the price, the difference between a gsr or mr with similar options was only like $2k-3k. but the mr has far more than $3k in upgrades.... wheels, interior, misc stuff, and of course, the expensive transmission itself. from a economic standpoint, i just could not justify the price difference for such a huge downgrade.

+1. As long as you do not have buyer's remorse for the car post purchase (especially with deciding between the 6 speed manuamtic and the 5 speed manual) - tends to be non-existent with the EVO, but you never know...

For extra $2000 it is pretty good price!
Bilstein, BBS, SST, Interior and what ever.

Especially like you stated, Traffic + average mods = SST winner

it's totally true. I tested driving MR first and found it's a little bit slower than the GSR, and that's why i chose the GSR. After i took home the GSR, i realized the ride quality difference between a MR and GSR... MR feels much much more civilized. If I had chosen the MR.. i wouldn't have to worry about getting drunk so my wife can take me home...now everytime I am having fun I have to watch out how much I actually drink... otherwise my wife and I are stuck lol

opposite for me, i found the gsr slower ( drove that first )
i learned to drive standard cars when i was like 10 years old.

drove the MR on a spirited test drive and was hooked, not regretting
also glad i didn't end up in another damn subaru.

i drove an mr after planning on a gsr ONLY, i said there is no way in heck that i'd shy away from the raw stick shift feel of the gsr, but i drove the mr and had to totally change my direction. especially if you're driving a lot like me. just my 2 cents

You're an auto with paddle shifters .

It's not an auto... It's a manual (dual clutch) with an electronic shifter. Big difference.

there is always one dude that has to flame someone to get by the day

read the first post dude, this had nothing to do with "which is better/faster/whatever" i asked a question about the clutch pedal and if there was one.

To all others, thanks for this input...it is just making it harder to wait till i get back to the states lol. Thanks again for the help guys, awesome forum!

To me i'm glad i bought a GSR. The evo is my first manual transmission car, sure i regretted it the first couple of months, it was a pain in the *** learning on this car, just imagine a newb driving through san francisco traffic talkng about painful. But wow once you get use to it, now traffic is nothing to me. All i have to say is theres no better feeling than performing a perfect rev match downshift and hearing that perfect rev match oohhhh music to my ears.

Not ******* the MR owners that is one badass transmission. That is the reason why gave us two options so everyone will be happy
