Am I too old for the Evo?

Hey Guys,

Let me first start off by saying that I have put a lot of money into this car, so even if I don't drive it, I'm not going to sell it. However, I'm 27 and wondering if people my age feel the same way I do.

Whenever I drive this car, I get people staring at me and thinking it's a teenager driving it. When they see me (6' 8") they think wtf am I doing driving a car like that!?!?!?! Are people in the same boat as me? Is it me? I mean I like the Evo, but is the sound of a loud exhuast on a 4 door to "old" for me? I'm sure there are people out there that think the same way I do.

If you love it, keep it. You could turn it into purely a track car.

I am 51 and love driving my EVO. I have had 911's, M3's and a viper and the evo has been the most fun. Try drivng a viper in the snow HAHA.

I am 35 and enjoy driving my EVO on a daily basis. You are not too old at all. Sure, you'll have the younger crowd looking at you, but it can be flattering at times. I was driving in traffic, and had ladies one lane over looking and going "ga-ga" over the EVO. Its funny, you have a point in whether you are too old to drive an EVO; but you look at other vehicles the other way around - when I was in my younger 20's, people were wondering what I was doing driving Porsches.

I hear you on that man. Although Im only 23, I am 6 foot and dont have much hair on top hence the basically shaved head. Makes me look older (although I still have my baby face haha!) anyway I feel like some people that especially dont know my age thing im in my 30's and driving this thing feeling like im a teenager. Like others said I like it so i guess I dont care?

No for an example of a car that I couldn't pull of anymore is my highschool project that I still have in the garage. Fun car but no way I could daily drive this without a lot of comments. Hell I couldn't do it without comments back then...I posted a pic below

I put plenty under the hood as well. Wasn't a "show" car just a "go" car with a super expensive paint job and body kit /cf hood.....car was still slow though

My point here is the car isnt that outrageous (im talking about the evo here) so if you like it...wich you do... then keep it, drive it. etc. Take off the wing if you want to be less flashy. It will blend right in.

I’m 38, 6', 250 pounds buddy. And I love my evo. Even worst, my lady is 48 and she love it with the exception of the 0-60 under 5 sec launches. lol
I have the loudest exhaust straight pipe without cat from AMS; I rev my car like a stupid kid all around my town, and so what? We still have some freedoms left in this country right? It’s my dark side and I love it. It makes me what I’m.

There is no age to have fun. Don’t relate age or body shape with car styles, that's what commercials, put in your mind, the rough guy driving the Harleys and rams and the rich good looking driving BMWs.
My advice: life is only one, enjoy every single second. Do all that you would like to do without hurt anyone and don't be so aware of how do you look. You will always look wrong for someone. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Maybe the look youre getting isnt WTF, but more a look of envy because you drive such an amazing vehicle... My buddy's father is like 70+ and drives his evo EVERYWHERE! The best part is: his is more modded than mine. LoL! Its all your perception.

I'm 37. I love driving my evo. I get the occasional kid saying it's cool to see a dad driving his sons car. Wtf? lol I don't mind. If it wasn't an evo it would be a muscle car of sorts. Don't let the age thing ruin your fun.

Well put. I guess since I grew-up in the "Fast and Furious Days" where everybody put an intake and spoiler on everything, I feel as if I haven't left those days. The car is loud, and I feel as if I'm drawing too much attention to a 4 door car. The key to me feeling a little silly is that it's a 4 door. I don't know. I guess we'll see when I get her back how often I'll be driving her.

first you are 27, you arent old lol. as said remove the wing, its always shocking how much it tones down the negative attention with one body piece! funny....

thats my plan. once i feel like toning it down, THEN ill de-wing it.

Sounds like you're too worried about what everyone else thinks. If that is your focus, sell it to someone who doesn't care as much, otherwise suck it up buttercup

Almost 32, wife 37, 3 kids (all girls, 6, 3, and 4 months) and they all love it (so do the 6 year old's friends, I'm the cool dad with the cool car )

well, my dad is 45 and the very proud owner of a heavily modified X... it is the first car that he has EVER bought after a lease.... and like any other evo owner, the modding never ends... his next little mod plan will put him at the 450whp mark, and of course it rests on JIC FLT-A2's on some some nice 265/40/18 rubber which he drives to work everyday and his only complaint is that he still cant keep up with GTR's, but its getting close
