Should I get a used or new Evo X?
Slightly used cars > new cars EVERY day of the week. Unless you're buying a Porsche or a car worthy of keeping forever, it's stupid to buy a new car.
I just bought an '08 with 5600 miles for $25,000. This is $10k less than sticker price. Is $10k worth 5600 less miles? LOL...no.

You can get a new 2010 GSR for $30,200 here in So Cal. I'm trying to figure out which to go for (an 08 like yourself for around $26k or a new one). $5k difference gives me 2.5 more years of a warranty, a car I know hasn't been thrashed on, plus the nicer info display (if I'm gonna look at that thing for the next few years the color one vs the red gameboy pixel version is a big difference). Worth an extra $10k? No way. Worth a $5k difference? It's not as insignificant considering it's nice to have a warranty for this minor nuisances like rattles or other oddities. So I'm leaning towards a new one now...but I'm trying to hold out until the 2011's come out to see what's new with them. If nothing I'll go for a 2010 and save some money.
Chances are he is not going to be paying off this evo - he didn't pay off the Z and he is putting down about 15-18% of the total price which is good.
I would much rather pay for a car that i love vs paying for a used car that you might just have to settle for. You don't wanna settle, thats for sure.
I bought my evo new and although I will mod the hell out of an evo again, i will purchase mine used next go around. because it will be a completely new car when im done.
If you can COMFORTABLY afford the payments, then I would rock the new. If you find a used one in the color and options you like for $5-8K less with no mods. then I would go that option. The key is, to love your purchase.

you made some good points but for 30k you will get a base gsr with no options. for 26-27k you can get a very nice used evo gsr with sss and aero and sport interior, maybe with nav. so i think those are very key options that increase the resale value and attractiveness of a vehicle. but other than that, your right about the warranty.
I have had four Evos and bought every one of them new. Why? Because I am ****. It would have to be a very, very special car from someone as **** as I am to buy one used. I just don't trust most people to take care of stuff like I would, like how many times has it been launched? Who tuned it prior? Any secrets I don't know about? Too much drama for me. I'll pay extra for the new car, thanks.
