this blows, have to replace windshield on my two day old Evo
Just to throw something out there...
The Touring has rain sensing wipers and such, just make sure that if you do go aftermarket that everything stays working. If the thickness changes compared to OEM, not installed properly, etc etc., you'll run into problems...

another reason why i chose to go with oem. just got a call from South Coast, the windshield arrived, going there tomorrow morning to get it install.
Like what? How would windshield glass thickness affect the rain sensing wipers?
The principle of most rain sensing wipers works on the principle of refraction and internal reflection of emitted light through a windshield. When water hits the glass at the sensor point, the internal reflection is diminished.
As such, changing the glass thickness can affect the sensor.
Now, I'm not sure about what mechanism the 2010 X utilizes for rain sensing, I just thought I'd bring it up.

I've got a rain sensing wiper function in my '08 GSR, it's called my eyes and fingers. They haven't let me down yet
I expected to have at least one chip or crack on my 2,000 mile drive from the dealership back to my house, but not a single one!

well, it didn't last. got a rock chip on my front windshield today and that expanded into a two feet long crack after couple minutes. i now definitely need to replace the windshield. question is do i need to get the Mitsubishi genuine windshield which insurance co. won't cover or the genetic one which they do cover. i'm so p*ssed off right now.

On a serious note: I don't know if the Evo X windshields are lightweight like the Evo VIII/IX ones were. But regardless I went with a generic Lancer one on my VIII and it weighed maybe 1 lb more, and was more durable. There has to be a generic available. Go to a shop that specializes in auto glass repair. Not ****subishi.
It's pretty cool, actually. This reminded me of a simple diagram I stumbled across when I was first trying to figure out how it worked.
Normally, most of the emitted light is reflected back towards the sensor. However, with rain or dirt, less is. With a thicker windshield, it would likely reflect more light even in the presence of rain/dirt. If it was too thin, your car might think it's raining all the time

just had my windshield installed yesterday. everything seems fine except there is some wrinkles (about 2 inches long) along the slim black plastic strip where the windshield meets the roof. noticed that after the install guy left the dealer, service adviser told me it's no big deal, it'll even itself out after completely dry, if not then call him up he can have the glass guy come to my house. one more question, i forgot whether our windshield comes with some kind of solar band or not? the new one i put in doesn't have that, it does have some kind of dotted layer around the rear view mirror area.

Here in KY the glass on the front is covered by insurance and no fault. Something to do with gravel trucks not requiring covers or something. I've had the windshield cracked on my 08' Evo (Got a generic replacement. Was given an option but at the time they were having a tough time ordering a Mitsu one) as well as my windshield, foglight housing, AND headlight cracked on my 03' WRX due to gravel/rocks on the roads. Insurance took care of it without any hassle at all.
For any 08' owners, so far I haven't noticed a difference between the original and the generic replacement windshields.
