I hope everyone realizes that the engine is broken in at the factory. You only need to drive it easy if it's a new build, ie crate engine or you just installed new parts in your engine.

I think I took it easy for about the 1st mile, only because I had to make it to the gas station on empty. After that...I couldn't resist hahaha.

I am pretty sure Titan Darin brand new evo X wont be breakin in anything. His car are probably in the shop now waiting for a completely rebuilt from top to bottom including a huge turbocharger. His quest are probably gonna be the first 9s Evo X.

Mine had 150 miles when I got it. Was a 200 mile drive home. But I read that they are broken in at the factory. I had mine at the road course on day 2.

I drove the **** out of mine during the test drive. It has like 8 miles on it. It stunk really bad afterwards. No break in period for mine.

I followed the manual - 600 miles break in period I believe. Vary the speeds. Easy on the brakes for 300 miles. But I've also heard that it's ok to drive it like you stole it from day 1. Regardless, I followed what the mfgr suggested. That was a really long week - minimal freeways, varying speed, drove it really slow.

1000 miles varying the speed. Parts started after first oil change at 3k.

Correct, Mitsubishi uses electirc motors that break in the motor at the factory, they test cyl pressure to make sure the rings seal.

That is why from the factory they come with synthetic oil. Tehnically there is no break in time.

Definition of "break-in period": A pointless number determined by the manufacturer to make you think that anything crazy done under that number is equivalent to raping and pillaging kids and their parents.

Just drive the damn car and don't redline it as you pull it off the lot. Read the "motoman break-in method" to learn a thing or two about engine break-ins.
