Seibon trunk leak?
Seibon trunk leak?
I put on a brand new seibon cf trunk, and whenever it rains and I pop my trunk water seems to come pouring out from behind the carpet lining. Anyone else have this problem? Do I have to use silicone on back of taillights and 3rd brake light? Because other than that I don't know where it can be coming from.
Thanks,
joe

inside of trunk lid? Im not following. There's a rubber ring on the third brake light, and a foam pad type material on back of the taillights. Then the weather stripping on the actual car is perfect.
If you dust the seal of the trunk with some powder (like chalk powder from a snap line) and then close the trunk, reopen and make sure there arent any spots that dont show chalk on the opposite of the seal. If there are gaps in the chalk, then that might be a spot that doesnt compress the seal well enough.
As for the lights... a little silicon bead around them to seal it doesnt hurt as long as you dont ooze it out of the gaps and onto the outside of the body. Seibon hasnt been known to fit perfectly in all cases so you might have to do some modification. Once you have sealed it all up, definately do the hose test as suggested before and do it to small areas to see if they leak.

also, probably will end up washing the whole car when you have found the source of the leak too, so bring your favorite car wash supplies.
