Exclamation Reverse Lights Work for Only 10 Seconds!

I have a 2008 MR with SST transmission. When going into reverse, the reverse lights go on for only 10 seconds, then go off even if the car is still in reverse. The dealer is stumped. I know the SST has it's own ECU that talks to the engine ECU. Any ideas or fixes?

So is it an electronic issue regard to the "Reverse light"? or the car wont go reverse physically?

does the dash show the car in reverse? maybe the reverse signal from the TCSST ECU is getting lost?

Unhappy

Hi guys,,,the car will physically move in reverse, but after 10 secs, the reverse lights will go off, the "R" will flash, indicating a gear block, but the car is still moving. Just hope I don't have to reverse for any length of time in the dark!

So the stealership let you drive away with it like that? That is something that they should keep the car till its fixed.

I thought some of you who have SST transmissions might have the same problem. I'll have to elevate the problem up the food chain to Mits.

The reverse light in the screen will flash if the tranny does not gear into the reverse yet. But it only happens at the first few seconds when you gear into reverse. However, in you case, it is not a normal situation. Hope your car still have warranty because it sounds like reverse gear failed. Good luck!

Thanks for luck! The car is still in warranty. The car still works in reverse. It's the reverse lights that stop working.
