Odd issue in reverse

So I have this really weird issue. I can't repeat it for the life of me. This has only happened about three times so far. Usually after the car has been sitting for awhile.

2010 RA w/SST

I start the car up, put it in reverse and I can back up about 10 feet and then the car feels like it has resistance (like the brakes are being applied) and it will stop. Normally the car will just backup without any throttle input if the car is in Reverse.

So far it has happened while turning the car in reverse (like backing out of a single parking spot)

If I put the car in Drive it will move forward fine without any resistance, like normal.

This happens on level ground or incline.

Eventually I end up hearing a cycling solenoid type sound, and a large one by the volume of it, then the car moves backwards fine without resistance.

I'm starting to think it might be the hill start feature going haywire.

Anybody else have this issue?

Think it's related to that flashing R issue mentioned in the User's Manual? Maybe the clutches are engaged just enough for the sensors but aren't completely engaged when going in reverse. That's my theory.

BTW, disregard my wording if I'm slightly off since I don't have the manual in front of me.

No it's soundly in Reverse. No flashing R. No ASC flash or anything.

It's not that the car stops moving because there is no power being given, it's something actually *stopping* the car with resistance. I can even give it more throttle and it starts to bog down like if you had the e-brake on.

Given how much the trans is controlled by the computer this sounds stupid. But maybe more than one gear is being engaged at the same time. You said it hasn't happened happened often and it seems like it only lasts for a few moments but maybe 5th or 3rd gear is getting engaged for those few moments at the same time reverse is.

You would think that wouldn't be possible though or at the very least would trigger a CEL or trans service indicator of some kind. Other than that though I have no idea how what you described would happen. Doesn't mean that's the cause though.

Are you sure you're taking the ebrake all the way off j/k
