evo x starting problem
evo x starting problem
i have a 2008 evo x, sometimes when i cold start it the RPM's wont stop going down. i give it gas because i feel that if i let it sit it will turn back off. idk if this is normal
I don't get this problem with cold start, however, if the engine is already warm and I shut it down and turn it back on, sometimes, the revs drop and the car actually stalls. This has happened to me 3 times, but I'm not sure what the cause may be.
Any ideas?

D the same problem on the X ,just took it to the dealer had them reflash the ECU for free and had no problems then..
This could be any number of things dude... Here are a few things that can cause this:
1. Vacuum leak.. allows air to get in and stall the car out.. A hose clamp or just the hose fitting..
2. Your Idle air control (IAC) may not be functioning properly.
3. Intake manifold gasket leak..
4. Improper fuel atomization.. When cold the injectors have a bigger clearance to the bore they fit in.. As you heat up, the clearances get smaller providing a better seal. This maybe ur case.
Your best bet is to hook up a scan tool and check your long term fuel trim and short term.. If they are really jacked up, your intake tract is leaking somewhere..
If when you start ur car and the engine RPM does not climb to like 1.5-2k and drop down, known as engine flare, your idle air control is being a little *****.
Also did you have ur car tuned? Your open loop maybe done wrong..
Cheers and let us know what it was..
