just wondering, have you changed your tranny oil and TC fluid? If you have many miles on the car that is? I actually got about 1-2 more MPG and while at first the tranny wasn't much different, it is smoother now with the AMSoil I am using.

Yes, and it still sucks. I'm left with a short shift kit and bushings to save the problem.

not at all trying to insult your driving, and I don't know which gears you have that are grinding and such, but have you noticed that for instance when pressing the clutch in from first gear the RPM's surge up about 200-500 for a half second or so? Maybe all your gears are griding, but once I noticed this, I delayed my shifting about a half second or so during normal driving and hardly ever do I feel or hear a grind. That might be something you want to try. With spirited driving most don't have the gear issue, but give it a try if you think about it next time you're out.

lol, sorry I just didn't have time in between errands. I don't know much but I know this, an audi might be my next car but not the regular line. I want an s5 or rs4, I've never driven either but I love the quality and tech.

I had both of of your previous cars WRX,S2k before my X. I tried out several 3 series models (no M3 or 335) but found them to be perfect cars for mindless commuting. I just found little driving excitement. Didn't check out Audis, luxury just is a low priority compared to the super sharp handling and the acceleration of even a lightly modded X.

You NEED to drive the GSR and then the A5. After DD'g a 03 S2k for a couple years, my X is plenty comfy. C'mon you know you really want an Evo!

Interesting choice of cars between an 5 series from Audi and a GSR from . What is it that is preferred? Is it going to be the luxurious bling bling that Audi drivers are known for? If an A5 was purchased and was going to undergo APR mods at 2Bennett Audimotive, then grab an A5/ A5 S-line/S5 supercharged, and have a good time with luxury and performance stacked together, with a of empty pockets when you are done. 5 series Audi's are great cars, and undergo mods well, if desired, but at a cost of requiring a number of Ben Franklins to come along with you. The drawback of the Audi is just plain maintenance cost. If you do not mind any of these things, grab the Audi.
The Evo GSR is a vehicle that is less hindered by a large number of luxurious amenities - I wish that an RS model existed, and the wifie would have grabbed an RS model of the Evo over the GSR. Great performance at decreased cost, at the sacrifice of luxury. The wifie would say that this is a comparison between apples and oranges. Two different breeds of cars serving a similar purpose, but the means of achieving the purpose is very different. If you have driven a Bimmer, then you have the "been there, done that" principle. Plus, you are still young - once you drive the 5 series Audi, and then drive the Evo, you will have the suprisingly impressed concept in mind upon getting out of the Evo driver's seat. It is hard to explain, but you will be impressed.

two totally different car. A5 is much more of a highway cruiser/luxury coupe. EVO is a pure sports car especially the GSR. frankly A5 is getting too expensive, a fully loaded A5 2.0T can cost almost $50k, and Audi usually don't have attractive incentives like BMW, so it's harder to get discounts on the A5. personally i just wouldn't pay that much $$$ for a 200hp turbo four, doesn't matter how good it looks inside and out.

I remember i bought a G35 coupe over a STi/EVO...loved the look and the interior...but deep down inside i always wanted the STi or EVO, it really hurt when the winter months came and my neighbor would pull up with his STi in a snowstorm while my G35 sat parked.

Take the test drive, u won't regret it. Its gonna b a year in May since ive had my X. Sure i hate the notching gears, and bad gas mileage...but this car puts a smile on my face every time i drive it.

I would suggest you 1) test drive both cars 2) post your question on an Audi forum and 3) truly consider your priorities in getting a car. If you want to have an Evo, there's no substitute. I was actually debating the exact same issue before I purchased my Evo. In the end what mattered most to me was performance and excitement because I was 22 and I wanted to have a fun car. If you are looking to make the impression that you are mature and refined, Audi's got the luxury, comfort, and brand prestige (bonus to the ladies). Luxury brands are about making a statement anyway than anything else. If you want to take your old s2k/wrx days and crank it up a few notches, go with the Evo, get an exhaust and tune, and have a blast.

My aunt bought the A5 as a gift for herself for beating cancer and having seen it up close I must say it's a gorgeous car. The fit and finish blows the Evo out of the water but that's not really what the Evo is about anyway.

I like the A5 and the X because, in my area at least, they're both rare cars. I've only seen a total of two A5's and two X's which appelas to me since around every corner you're bound to see several Bimmer's or A6's.

I think the real choice lies with whether you want performance or luxury. The X is like a scalpel on the road and takes mods very well, even the minor ones that you've listed while the A5 is just pure sex to look at. It's a tough choice but I think whichever you choose you won't be dissapointed.

I just traded in my A4 for my Evo. I know the A4 isn't an A/S5 but still... Audi's are EXPENSIVE

You have to change rotors with brakes... everytime. period. no way around it.
Routine maintenance is expensive as hell.

It's a trade-off though. Luxury-performance for Raw track-performance. I'd wait on the Audi IMO. Quattro is all wheel drive but it's not performance all-wheel drive like the Evo

Gripes with my Audi...
ZERO leg room for passengers.
Seats are comfy but overall cheap.
very heavy cars.
Something ALWAYS going wrong. In the year (1.3 yrs) I owned my Audi I brought it in for warranty work 8 times.
Maintenance is super expensive. Rotors MUST be changed with brakes. over $400. oil changes are $100.00
audi includes free rental while car is repaired/service but they use enterprise and not Audi courtesy cars

Praises
Quite drive
Great customer service (at miramar Audi) ask for George
nice ride, smooth drive, yatta yatta yatta. everything you'd expect from a luxury car
