why change stock recaro seats?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but one of the (and a minor one) reasons I chose to go with the evo over an STI is that the evo comes stock with recaros. My question is why do people replace recaros with brides, or whatever other kind of aftermarket seat?
Their are many complaints about the stock Recaro"s... I don't personally have a problem but they have been called cheap by more than a few people here! p.s. Bride's are sick and def baller status!
well
some of them just like the seats
they look really nice and unique
but for some
its probably due to their seat being worn out and they need to change one anyway
might as well just pay abit more to get the bride
and some ppl get bride due to their car being track car where they need full bucket seat
i believe the stock recaro seats is a semi-bucket seat
it doesnt hold you tight as good as the bride do

If you drive your car like an "enthusiast" or do some autocross, there is a point where you would need to stick your but and shoulders even harder to your seat to compensate g-forces.
Some guys try with four, six point racing harness, others replace their recaros with other more hard racing oriented seats.
It happens to me all the time, I’m a big bones guy, right now I’m fixing it with a four points seatbelt, It helps a lot, specially in the hips and shoulders, but as soon I have a couple of grand’s to burn, I’m going for a stiffer seats for sure, I still need to use the rest foot area cornering, that's wrong. your seat should be able to take all your weight so you have your legs both free to use them anytime.
hope it helps

i asked the same question seeing as i already have a set of sparco torino 2 seats sitting in my garage unused and the reasons i wont change them are:
from Mike Ko of TSE:
"Sell the Sparco Torinos and use the money towards your down payment, because if you kept them, you'd still have to buy the Sparco specific brackets for the Evo X so that you can install them in and you'll have the exact same result as the X with some minor differences: A racing bucket seat with knob adjustable recline that are harness ready. With the Torinos, your seats are red, so it would limit you on the color of the car you can get, because, regardless what anyone says, red doesn't go well with everything. Torinos will give you the one touch memory forward dip. That feature was made by Sparco for people that were looking to install their Torino seats in a coupe (like the Mustang) to allow for rear passengers to easily enter the rear cabin. That feature would be useless on the X unless you want a little more leverage room for the girlfriend while she's riding your junk. The Evo X Recaros will give you factory fitment, feel and finish as well as the side airbag and you won't have to be a mad scientist trying to figure out how to fool the factory SRS system into thinking that you still have the side airbag there. Also helps in the event a Mack truck decides to perpendicularly butt**** your door.
So, that being said, let's look at the two scenarios:
A) Keep Tornio = Spend money on brackets = Figure out airbag fix = Still have a monthly payment.
B) Sell Torino = Use funds towards down payment = Lower monthly payment and you aren't putting used parts in a brand new car! WIN!
I'm a Mitsubishi dealer and if you haven't found the exact X you're looking for, let me know. "
