hi guys, my evo x motor was blown, i really have no idea on the extent of the damage, a shop has told me that there are most likely bent valves etc..the bottom end was taken off and there was nothing really visible to tell the damage so it must be somewhere on the top end...needless to say i was very frustrated that i could not get a price to fix the motor without having a shop spend hours of labor to open up the engine,..i was told that a rebuild could cost anywhere from 2 to 10k depending on the problem..this was from multiple sources, i hate surprises ..i ended up getting lucky and found a great low mileage motor that came out of a salvage evo x and got a good deal on it...currently im having that put into my car..this way i have a set cost that is well below what the extreme cost of a rebuild is..now my question is..i have this spare motor, surely it is worth something? how much do you think i could get for it? or let me rephrase this..how much should i ask for it?? even though it is damaged id imagine it is still worth something.. and is it possible that a lancer owner could put it in their car? could i maybe target a lancer owner? i just want to recoup some of my expenses thank you

There's no way to estimate the price of what an engine is worth when you have no idea what's wrong with it...But sure the undamaged parts are worth something.
