Sound during acceleration

I've had the X for almost a month now. No mods, and I don't drive it too often. Been on a few long weekend trips, nothing special. Since I've had it, it's made a particular engine bay sound on acceleration, starting around 4K rpms and going to redline. The only way I can describe it is that it sounds like a mildly cammed car at idle, you know the "lub dub lub dub," and it increases in frequency (not necessarily intensity) as I accelerate, whether mild or hard. You can almost feel it. I figured it was the mivec, but I just wanted to make sure that I'm not jumping at shadows because I'm not used to driving such a quiet car. I came from a IX which was much louder, even stock. The only sound you could hear was from the rear of the car... well except the BOV. So if there was a mivec sound in the IX, I never noticed it. Any comments?

Before you ask, I did a search with no luck. So either I:
a) searched improperly
b) this is normal and nobody has questioned it
c) I'm paranoid
d) there's something wrong with my car

I'm pretty sure it's one of the last two. Thanks.

I would do two things:
1. Have a more experienced local X enthusiast ride in your car and listen for the noise.
2. Take it to the dealership and have a service writer take a quick ride in the car.

I did the second one. They said there's nothing wrong with it. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone else local with a X.

Where are you located? Have you checked out the regional sub-forums? It's beneficial to put your actual location in the appropriate section.

Service writers will say that almost everytime. I would look in the regional forums as well and try to find another local X.
