car turns off
car turns off
today I was out at the track and i hit around 100mph i realized i didnt want to go any higher so i let off, the next thing i know is that my car had turned off. now the radio and lights and all worked but the engine was no longer running. so i put it into neutral and start the car, of course it started right back up.
doesnt seem like much of a problem however:
i didnt have any power steering which could of been a problem
i drive a $30k car and it shouldnt do that
and i have never heard of this and it has never happened before.
i currently have an apexi turbo timer and a buschur racing intake a.k.a a new filter.
someone please help i really would not like for this to happen again.

Also, withthe new filter and inlet pipe, you are going to skew* your MAF readings which could make your car run lean. This may not be a problem at WOT, but when you let off, it may have caused this.
+1 agreed. In addition you should reset the ecu just so it can relearn the new readings.
hehe, I'm probably the only person who stayed up late enough to see the original post! Keep it safe on the track in deed, but yeah, if it happens again, I would look further into it!
i was at a roll of about 55 then WOT to 100, then clutch to neutral and coasted. as for the inlet for the filter its on a custom made bracket to prevent movement in turn prevent spikes. that sounds like a logical cause though maybe it needs to be tightened down. how do you reset the ECU? how does that look when i bring it in for warranty?

This happened to me yesterday twice driving down the road, letting off putting it into neutral, then the car shut off. I pulled over and looked under the hood and the filter from the intake i installed was laying there disconnected x.x i'm a dumb ***... tightened the bolt on it after i put it back on, and hasnt happened again.
This describes an issue 350Z's had with some intakes back in the day. Going from WOT to neutral would kill the car for some people. But it wasn't every time. Resetting the ECU helped at least short-term but the consistent fix was to just ease off the gas and coast in gear for a lil and then go to neutral. That's easier for the ECU to figure out vs the sudden 100%-to-0% throttle change.
