HELP: Traqmate not working!!

Heyo all,

The power supply cord for my Traqmate has a light on it that lights up when I plug it into the cig lighter but, the unit itself does not power on. Is there a fuse inside the unit that may need to be replaced????

Make sure it's plugged in all the way and rotate the plug that goes into the sig lighter around. I have the same issue with my phone charger and I'll have to rotate it a bit it it works fine.

If it doesn't work, try plugging something else in there...

I tried twisting the 12v adapter once it was plugged in and the Traqmate still got no juice and I tried plugging other items into the socket and they worked fine... ugh, looks like I gotta spring for $150 for Traqmate to take a look at the unit.

Anyone have any other ideas on what it might be?

There is but, that one is fine - if there is a lower rated fuse in the unit itself, that could be blown but am not sure...will try calling someone at Traqmate...

Some progress!

Does anyone know how to test whether the tip of the 12v cig adapter is supplying juice? On the adapter insert the red light glows but there may be a short in the line before it reaches the SU.

I tried plugging the SU into my laptop and she fired up, so I think either the 12v cig adapter is bad or the 12v power receptor on the SU is bad. Hoping its the 12v adapter!

Please let me know how I can test it...

You can measure with a volt/multi meter. Radio Shack has some cheap ones... set it to VDC (Volts, direct current) and one lead on the outside, the other lead on the inside. If your meter does not understand negative voltages (i.e. analog meter), you'll need to get the polarity right or try both ways.
