took the evo x to the beach and got stuck parking

me and my wife went to new smyrna beach over the weekend we go every other month since we live so close,

well the sand was pretty soft were we parked at, no biggie for any AWD car but aparantly i kept bogging down and engine lost all power, it would move a foot then shut down, i finnaly got out of the sandy area where every one is parked,

well on the way home i put 2 and 2 together and relized the traction control was kicking in and shutting the engine down, " one of those dumb moments some of us all have"

why they ever put traction control on a AWD car is beyond me but lesson learned,

i should have been shooting 20 foot sand rooster tails instead i was stalling and boging down in the sand leaving the parking space

my buddy in his mazda 6 FWD had no issues parking and getting out of the same spot next to me,

Traction control can save your *** when it comes to making the best use of grip that is available. But as you found out... if there is little to no grip... it actually messes you up more than anything else.

The first thing I do when I get in my car is turn off ASC. Car is a lot more fun and controllable with it off. If I could drive my Evo 9 with out traction control, im sure I will survive with it off in the X.

No it doesn't. It's there when you need it, and you can turn it off if you don't.

The traction control in the X is pretty good, too. I took a corner onto a highway with a bit too much exuberance and started to slide a bit. ASC kicked on and it snapped right into line.

If you head out to the track, leave the AYC on and have some fun.

read the manual.... simply is that. if you want to come out from the snow or mud etc, you need to shut off the control.
all is in the owner manual...

what do you think why cars have the traction control off button?
human error nothing to do with the car. But easier to blame the car. Since it will not argue

I didn't have any issues with it last Winter but I don't venture into deep snow if I can help it. The Evo has a great drivetrain but I'm a little lower than stock and that's not helpful.
