remove black baseball shift knob?

Ok, time to put on a new shift knob and remove the GSR's fugly stock black baseball knob. Mine is really on tight, so before I ruin it doing it the wrong way, I want to verify how to remove it; you just twist clockwise correct?

I bought AMS' vibrant Carbon fiber knob as the replacement, anyone have this knob and recommend loctite?
