AC is hissing
AC is hissing
ok, wtf...the ac is hissing at me on the hottest day of the year! still have cold air on driver vents but both passenger vents are blowing hot air...
i've had the car (08 MR) since last MAY. this should still be covered right? just want to make sure because dealer might pull a fast one.

they won't blame this on me installing a double din navi a few months ago will they?
^ LOL!
Yeah, there aren't any vacuum actuators (that's old-school!).
Weird though that the air would blow cold out one side and not out the other.
Are you sure that you let it run long enough before comparing the sides? If the car's been sitting in the sun, the heat soak could make the air blow hot for a long time before cooling down.
Good luck and let us know if you figure anything out - I'm sure it would be good for all of us to be aware of.

took it to the dealer and they tried to pull codes and checked the compressor clutch...nothing. now i have to go to a different dealer since the one i went to didn't have an actual "AC machine" to check for leaks and such. PITA! at least they didn't charge me.

I will guarantee that the system is just low on charge. I have seen this a lot when the system gets less than half and usually less than a quarter charge, it will still put out cool air our of certain vents and will make a hissing noise because there isn't as sufficient charge for the system so it's almost running on fumes. There doesn't necessarily have to be a leak for this to happen, closed systems still lose little by little and it's possible that it came undercharged from the factory. I've done numerous recharges and found low systems on practically new cars with no leaks found. Unfortunately it won't be covered (only under 12 month/12,000 miles) unless they find an actual leak. If it's just a recharge they will most likely charge you.
