my a/c exploded
Ok, I was driving and minding my own business and I had my a/c on to level 1 when all the sudden something happened. There was a small pop and then suddenly there was this white cloud of smoke coming out of the passenger side front hood. I stopped immediately to the side hoping it wasn't anything serious. I opened the hood and oil was leaking and looked like it exploded inside the engine bay on the passenger side. I smelled what kind of oil it was but it kind of ressembles baby oil or cooking oil. The hissing sound continues (maybe all the frion is leaking out?) for about 5 minutes until it's all quiet. I tried to turn on my a/c again and it no longer blows cold air. I let the A/C run for 5minutes and it's making this hissing sound. However, I can still drive my car. Any ideas what could be wrong??

You mean you saw a cloud coming out of the engine bay and you didn't bother pin pointing where it was coming from?

Then get an AC recharge kit and see where it leaks.

I was looking in the engine bay and I couldn't tell where it was coming from. I was tracing back the source of the oil leak and it's dripping somewhere between the manifold and passenger front tire. There is a motorized device (which is connected to a pully belt) around there that may be the culprit. Leak stopped but I can still hear a hissing sound when I turn on the a/c.
Have you ever, or had anyone, charge your A/C system?
You either blew a hose, or an O-ring where the lines come in and out of the compressor. Typicly your A/C system wont just randomly blow up unless something else happend, and if you had the system checked or charged they possibly put to much refriderant in and over pressurized the system. Either way you have to find the leak, fix it, replace your Dryer and have the system recharged.

Here you go... I found the problem. I need to replace or patch the hose (circuled yellow). It's rubbing against the other metal hose (circuled blue). Where do I get this hose and what is it called? Can I get an upgraded one?

something similar happened to me to day, was driving with my a/c on going about 80mph (note// my a/c blows warm and cold, on going problem) and i smell this burning rubber. I get off on the off ramp then this white cloud of smoke comes from my car, i end up pulling over and this sucker was bright red.
