...and sell your ride?
I've had some type of fun ride in over 30 years of driving. Muscle cars, sports cars, import coupes and sedans. Got my Evo X in Dec. 08 after selling off 2 cars a 68 Charger and 02 S2k. I wanted an Evo since the 03's came out and got the X after a test drive and the 0%. The intention was to track and mod the X and have a nice safe DD ride for my wife and 2 young kids. The Evo X is the perfect vehicle for that dual purpose.
Well after having the Evo for almost 2 yrs and I've yet to track the car. Fun runs to the mountains get put to the side. Modding that once seemed mandatory now seems kinda frivolous. The time and money that would be spent on the car, just seems to go to other interests...family interests. Not that there's anything wrong with that, its just shifting priorities that I'm fine with. The 95% use of driving is spent in traffic and the 5% of fun driving is starting to disappear. I can afford the X, that's not the issue-its just starting to feel like overkill. But thats the whole reason for an Evo!!
Any car that I've thought I couldn't live without and sold, I've never had sellers remorse. Seems like I go through this every couple months with this this car and start window shopping cheaper rides...older beater sedans, Hyundais, Outbacks etc...WTF!! Then I figure I'll kick myself if I let the Evo go. Doh!!

I bought my MR for that dual purpose as well. I would sell or trade the GSR for an MR it's great for just putting around and being a family daily driver but still fun on the twisties. Not so much a focused track car like the GSR (in my opinion)
I've had those thoughts for over 3 years now. It's such a great toy to have, but I seem to find more fulfillment in watching what other people do to their cars. Mine mostly sits in the garage and gets driven and cleaned occasionally. What's the point in that?
The funny thing is I have seller's remorse and I haven't even sold her. I want someone to buy it and, you guessed it: Keep it in their garage and never drive it.

I really think it depends on personality.
Do I use my car to the full potential? No. Nor do I mod as much as I used to. But even in spirited driving and commuting, I like the car. I always think about doing an autocross once or so a year, but have not done so in a long, long time.
That said, I would never neuter myself and buy a normal car or a truck. I want the precision, the placement, the reflexes, the acceleration, the braking. I would cry in a automatic Camry or a Silverado.
Driving bland/normal cars designed for the masses has no appeal to me whatsoever.
The beauty of the Evo is that you still get five star crash safety, four door usability, and the sure-footedness of all wheel drive.
Keep the sucker.

Being a family man with two kids, there was a time that I too lost interest in sports cars. At the time it was my 04 Sti. So, during the high fuel prices I trade it in for a toyota corolla. It was a responsible rather than a financial decision and convinced myself that I had no need for a sports car.
Boy, was I wrong! One thing I noticed is the power that I was used to. Not in racing but even changing lanes and entering highway.
One day, my wife drove my corolla and she tried to pass this old garden maintenance pickup. It end up being a uphill drag race between the two of them, ultimately she lost. That’s when I traded it in for Evo X. Never been happier. It was a humbling experience, however sports car are in my DNA.
I don’t track / autox as much as I used to but even driving 35mph in the EVO X gives me a grin on my face.
These were my previous cars - VW corrado, 86 porsche 944 turbo, 96 turbo miata, 93 silver toyota supra TT (miss the most), and 04 STi.
Although if I had to do over again. I would purchase the SE model and not the GSR.

That's right!!!! NY to CT Every day on the I95 and love it. Yes it's nice to stop and smell the roses ....then launch it kicking sand and rocks all over those smelly things...
I've own mine since 05 and drive from NY to VA,NC and TX all the time.
I know what you are talking about, I have run into the same things with past motorcycles and cars.
I think if you just set aside a day or two to run the car the way it sits at a road course, you're current feelings will all be over. I find that when I haven't been to a road course on either a bike or car, I lose interest. Just seems like overkill for a car like this just to be daily driven, although....not wrong.
