I have read up on the GSR vs. MR and I would plan on tuning it possibly heavily, i.e. upgraded turbo. So the MR is probably out, as it seems like it is a PITA to get the tranny to accomodate that kind of power. I don't care about the high-end feeling, my M coupe without nav has absolutely no creature comforts (not even heated seats - very stripped) so I don't see the GSR interior and issue.

BTW meat, I LOVE your car! Probably one of the main reasons I am looking at an X.
Just so you're aware, the stock SST in an MR can handle 400+whp just fine without any upgrades. If you're going to go north of 430+ I'd definitely consider upgrading the tranny though.

It sounds like you may, so the GSR may be for you. Just keep in mind the GSR needs drivetrain upgrades as well (center diff pins, clutch, master cylinder, etc)

I say ditch the beemer, the cost of maintenance alone is worth it in the long run.

And one of my old 1 for good measure...

Thanks for the feedback guys, and keep it coming - I still have yet to decide. I like the fact that this is a very knowledgable and helpful community (as long as you don't ask stupid questions) so I would be more than excited to join your ranks. The bimmer community is iffy, most are nice but others are fanboys that won't accept anything other than a BMW... I would be chastised for posting this there. Haha.

The winters in Upstate New York suck but with a good set of snow tires the X turns into a snowmobile. I never thought I could have fun in the snow with a car.

Since you want more than 2 seats and a more winter worthy car, getting rid of your M is a no brainer. I got out of an S2K for the same reasons.

I would keep the M coupe . You very rarely see those on the road + they are awesome.

I think you'll enjoy the Evo. It's the biggest money pit that I've ever owned (mod addiction) but I love the thing.

I looked at the S4's, wouldn't be interested in anything but the new supercharged B8 model for a couple reasons... it can be tuned easily, and it would be under warranty. I have owned 4 consecutive German cars, and I am looking forward to maintenance that doesn't require a separate savings account. As much as I would love a GT-R, it is a little out of my price range now, someday maybe. The evo is a perfect fit because I won't be afraid to drive it in the PA winters either.
