Newbie, Convince me to buy a Evo X =)
Hey everyone. I am new to this forums, however not new to forums in general. I need some help with deciding if a EVO X would be right for me from your experiances. I have been threw many cars and currently daily driving 400hp supra. I am looking for something that is 4doors/turbo and can seat 5 comfortablely.
Whats a common EVO X max hp with basic standard mods?
Reliability with mods?
Does it seat 5 comfortably?
Which model? MR? GSR?
Would I be happy with the power compared to my supra right now?
I searched the forums and understand the basics, but I wanted a real world what would you do differently if you bought the car again. Or regret buying it. Etc.
Thanks for any advice!

And for those that dont' get the joke.. old supra joke.. makes 500rwhp and only traps 12s... damn I am showing my age
A couple minor things to mention.... You may already know these but just in case.
The GSR does not come with the alcantera type seats like on the MR, it holds you in well, but is the cheap cloth like material.
If buying a GSR (manual) you will not have HIDs unless purchasing the SSS package.
There will be a transition period for you running at a "MUCH" higher rpm at highway legal speeds comparing with your Supra and just about any other true sports car out there.
Be prepared in a manual on "normal" driving from a stoplight to be passed by minivans until you get into some boost. I cannot even explain how this car reacts off the line unless you're more aggressive.
Depending on area, pretty sure more people will try and race you.....irritate you in an EVO, rather than in the Supra.
Just a few things to keep in mind, plenty of other stuff but I didn't want to bore you.

What's is a same thing between the 400 - 600 - 800 whp supra on street tires?
All runs 12's ...
if i recall it right this joke.
I have drove M series cars (M Coupe, E 46 M3, E90 M3)
Owned Subaru Wrx and STI
Owned 2 Evos 8 and IX
Owned 135i
Honestly, the X is the best of both worlds. Not as raw as the 8 & IX and has the sophistication/drivability of a Euro car. Only down side is the interior isnt as well rounded.
Yet, and this is the big kicker. The car drives Insanely beautiful through corners and there is no other AWD in the price range that will give you the daily rush that you get in an X.
No brainer go for it. + the after market is extremely affordable compared to the above mentioned cars!

+100 Test drive is what did it for me. I've been a hardcore Subaru and Honda guy forever and while I HATED Evos, always admired the way the 8 and 9s drove.
I was about to buy either a used 05-07 STI, or the new 2011, but got a good test drive in a 2010 X back to back with a STI. I was blown away and completely sold.
The driver connection and performance of this car has been summed up by many of the professional pundits and online communities, but it's something you really do have to drive for yourself to understand.
I will say that the X is more about overall performance than flat out power. Power can be made easily but it's not all this car is about.

Hey OP not a 4 door but you should at least test drive the 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia. Bone stock it will Definitely beat the 2011 Mustang GT in ALL races including autocross.

I considered the IS-F before. Its alot stiffer and not much more fun. I also hate having no turbo. My supra blows a IS-F out of the water.

Dont plan to get rid of it
...
Go get a mustang and be a part of every 4 out of 5 cars on the road and the same "community" or get yourself an EVO X and join the real imports instead of straight ways.
Ive had the best driving experiences and still do with the EVO X MR TOURING i have compared to other cars I have driven. Its much more fun and whether you go on or off the track.
Take what Drew said here seriously especially if you do not like dudes staring at your car and you or ask you questions even though you do not know them.. If that's the case do not bother with an EVO haha.
Test Drive the Evo it sells itself thats why the dealers don't deal on them. As for the post about the mustang? Soon as you hit the first corner you just lost the Mustang. The mustang is NOT a good auto X car, I see them at events often and they are WAY too heavy and the live rear axle hops all around the course. Great for a drag car, not an AUTO Xer from what i have seen.
The X steering and handling are amazing and thats why I bought it along with the ability to perform year round in New England. The Mustang certainly has shortcomings but performance (including handling) is no longer one of them.
