I will go on a limb and say this...... The EVO X is one of the easiest cars in the world to drive hard at a track. Hell, my old EVO IX was too. Entirely too forgiving, makes a newbie with some guts look like he really knows what he is doing.

The X removes the "guts" part of the equation. But yes. Easiest to drive fast: true. Best handling: false. Easiest to drive fast is taken by amateur drivers to mean that it is the best handling. It does handle very well though...

AWD: fast at high horsepower levels in "street trim". Not just fast on the weekends in race trim.

Anyone that has had massive power in a 2wd knows how useless it can be in street trim.

If your in the market for a sports car thats one car worth looking at.

yes. also the easiest to drive is kind of true. Really drive hard the evo is not easy. Rear wheel drive cars gives you much more readble limit warnings so as the FWD.
IMHO.

You should seriously consider an 8 or 9. i've say in the back seat of an 8 and an X and i think that the 8 had more room, plus the fact that you are going to have more performance out of the 8 if you want to. It all depends on what you want though.

Im not sure when this post became a "Mustang" vs Evo X comparo, but the poor guy is just asking for advise on an Evo. Who ever brought up the Mustang deal to stir up people was wrong to do so. What do you excpect when you bring up a "mustang" in an Evo forum? You get bashed. I just have to respond to stuff like that because YES I have driven a 2011 Mustang GT. YES I have driven one on a solo II track, and YES I drive an Evo 9. I have no experience with the Evo X bu with the 8 and 9 I do, since I owned both. I have tracked the 8 way more than my 9 but when my friend bought his new stang we went to the track in AZ (solo II) to check it out. The Stang is a great car and at no time did anyone say its a POS. Just compared to my Evo I liked the Evo better. The Evo had better gear ratios for the short track, it had stronger brakes, it just was better suited for that particular track. I say the stang would be a great drag car because they are great drag cars. So lets not get the things confused here and people start putting words in other peoples mouths here.

This whole post was about a guy needing help deciding weather or not to buy an X EVO not , "well go try a stang" or whatever. If they guy drove a X SE and didn't like it, oh well, he buys something else. So lets leave this post alone. Maybe the Medator will close this post in the interest of everyone.

First off, someone made a suggestion of another car the OP could try, while it could be argued that was a little off the exact topic the OP wanted... It can't be argued that reasonable suggestions within or near the OP's "ideal" would be helpful.

Do the pre-2011 Mustangs stand a chance against the Evo in anything but a straight line? No. But those of us who said so were specifically talking about the 2011 mustang which I am guessing most of the below posters have little to no experience with.

So here are posts of examples of when it became a "2011 Stang vs Evo X comparo" and the reason why I had to post an article to "educate" the less fortunate Evo community members.

Go get a mustang and be a part of every 4 out of 5 cars on the road and the same "community" or get yourself an EVO X and join the real imports instead of straight ways.

Just because you see Mustangs in Drifting events, and what not, does not mean they are great handleing cars. Yes they are improved, but the Evo has Decades of racing experience backing their car, and I don't mean Oval Racing like ford does. Real hard core, Rally Racing. All I have to say is SHAME on ford for not bringing us the REAL Focus RS to the USA. Now THAT is a ford I would recomend, NOT the mustang.

Again, apologize for getting of point, but dang people if you have never Auto X'd a mustang, vs and evo, just be quiet, I have driven both on a course, you CANNOT compare them AT ALL BOTTOM LINE!!!
Edit: After posting I realized two of the quoted posts that started the "Mustang vs Evo" issue were YOUR posts!

well the 2011 mustang got the great intrudoctions and all ... Like very very close match with the BMW M3 V8's etc.
We will see how is going to come down in the real life. US car makers and magazine's tend to be little bit too optimistic with domestic cars...
I saw one black with black wheels 2011 Mustang GT in Dallas. I have to tell you the firts mustang actually i liked a way it looked. Seriusly.

Oh no doubt. I am not suggesting the Mustang GT is faster than the Evo X, especially not in all categories. Just like I wouldn't suggest (nor believe the STi to be faster). But I am suggesting it is finally a viable alternative for people looking at cars in this type of segment (30k bargain speed machines).
