open filter intake

While coming to mod the car, which one usually need to be done the first, the exhaust system or the intake system, assuming you are not chaning them at once?

And if I changed to an open filter intake but keep the stock exhaust system, how's the car going to perform? Is it going to run lean? Does it depend on the size of your fuel injectors?

Thanks.

I ran an ETS intake alone for a couple weeks before putting in the ti-c and I didn't run into any problems. I'm not tuned and still haven't experienced any problems. Probably gonna keep it like this over the winter while i stock up.

The reason you didn't run into any problems is because the ETS intake was designed to lean the car out. It was built before there was any good tuning software, so they used the intake to lean the car out. In a way you're almost driving a pre-tuned car with the ETS intake. Not sure about the others.

Exhaust system for sure... Full TBE (Turbo Back Exhaust)

You'll experience really nice gains... just make sure to choose your exhaust wisely.

almost all intakes will lean out the car a bit, and trust me you can't lean out the X with just an intake

If you just get an intake, the car won't be too lean without a tune?

I am running without a tune right now and I'm still running rich as hell with the ETS intake/uicp. I've never had any problems and the car runs excellent. The only thing you might encounter is a jumpy idle with the A/C on or when the fan comes on for the radiator because it messes up the flow of the MAF sensor. I've only noticed that at a complete stop on hot summer days.

Yeah I was looking to replace the stock intake with a Cobb cone filter, heard mixed reviews of whether that would screw with A/F ratios

You should be fine running a Cobb intake. The only thing that worries me about them is the lack of a heatshield.

why get the Cobb when theres 1 million choices out there (I lied..maybe thats 10+). personally I went with the Apexi Power intake, its brand new for this year and it comes with a heat sheid (and cost the same as the cobb)

Dude, install a test pipe and get a wideband in there first thing. If you have that then you won't need to have the armchair modders on this site speculate for ya!
