pulled over today!!! California sucks!!!

hey guys just posting a story about what happened to me on saturday night at 9:30pm by a police officer(not chp). i have a 08 gsr evox and the cop said that my headlights were illegal and that my exhaust is highly modifed.. the funny thing is that our car comes with HID's and my exhaust is catback so it still has the cat for smog emissions for California.. is this something that i can get thrown out cause he gave me a fix-it ticket??? i dont have my test pipe on or boost controller cause my Cobb AP isnt here yet so im running legal. right?? cause im going to fight it and say that he is wrong and was profiling. my exhaust is HKS but its under 92 DB's with the cat still on?? advice please?? i dont want to swap back the stock exhaust.. im almost ready to get my car tuned with all my mods listed..wtf?

Sorry man. Ya, Cali sux when it comes to car mods/cops! Having a "catback" is Illlegal, so your screwed, even if its below 99 decibels.
Just gonna have to slap the stocker back on, get it written off, and slap it back on, or might wanna leave the stock exhaust on and throw a QTP cut out on, or o2 dump, TP, and call it a day...

yea man in cali you gotta run stock catback or they bust you every time.

Funny story. I was rolling with 300 bucks in bills and plastic in my wallet. I get cut off in Holmdel and I swerve to my left which took me onto the Garden State Parkway. 2 of the lanes were EZ pass and 1 was exact change. There were no toll collectors.... so I sat there and just ran it. I was thinking about throwing candy at first but my heart was pounding I said F it and went. Now, I'm expecting a 50+ dollar ticket in the mail.

WHY... i admit it sounds really fun to do just once though.

the catback you're SOL on...but the HID headlights can definitely get thrown out. since you're in yuba, if questioned, just point to the nearest **** driving a bmw and you're set.

Are you serious? I thought there were CARB catbacks, or something like that?

Catback illegal... but Prop16 will legalize Maryjane. California is the birthplace of hot rodding. why don't the police close every performance shop in California and prohibit sales of aftermarket parts or fine the vendors. NJ can be a douchy state but is pretty laid back when it comes to modified cars in my experience.

Cali has always been this way. Lived here since the '70's. There were several speed shops around back them but most are closed now or had to diversify. You are right about it being glamorized by American Graffiti back in the day making it look like hotrod heaven but it is not. Still doesn't stop allot of enthusiasts....like me....lol.....but you have to learn to play the game.

Doing things stealth still can make great power. Just have to try not to advertise your mods as much. I have run a catback for 4 years now and haven't been pulled for it. Helps too I have a stock "looking" WW '06 RS with no wings or stickers.

If you are stock and have a big shiney can out the back and significantly louder your just asking to get pulled over now-a-days. Cops are now tasked with being revenue agents for our broke state. Givem any doubt...their gonna wip it out....ticket book that is.

I fail to see why people still live in California when its rules and leadership are worse than 1930's Germany.
