Buying an 08 evo gsr... Any common gremlins since its a first year run of the X?

Looking at some low miles evo X's (under 30k miles) since most of them are around 22-25k and that is my max spending amount including my down payment. What common gremlins are the 08's known for? Ive read about the powertrain and drive train issues but what about other issues. Electrical or similar? How do the 08's hold up vs a low or similar mileage evo 9? I notice the X's arent holding value like the 9's. Is this simply due to the 9's rarity or is it due to mechanical complaints like the bmw 335's and all their issues?

Notchy shifting in 2nd and 3rd are the most common. Other than that, you should be good.

I have a little over 18K miles on mine and have not had any real issues. I think the discounts on the new ones has driven the resale prices down on the X since you can pick up a new GSR for around $30K.

Also I've heard something about a fuel relay fuse issue. I know mitsu has a fix out for it though.

Also there is a fuel line recall, and another recall in the north eastern states.

Also a hood latch recall. These should all be fixed by under warranty.

My X is just a little over 13k and no problems what-so-ever. The notchy 2nd and 3rd can easily be corrected with aftermarket bushings. Best of luck.

Anyone here with more miles. Say over 50k, that can chime in and tell me how they hold up once they really have some mileage on them. I mean its allready gonna be a 4 year old car and thats about the point when power windows, locks and other creature comforts start to show wear reguardless of how low the miles are. I found an 06 evo with only 35k on her for 19995. But im just afraid of the residual issues which come with age. The car is going to be my daily driver to haul my kids around, take me on dirt roads and even some construction sites lol. Im looking for the most reliable ride which offers me some power and practicality which my sc300-tt lacks.

I've never had this problem. Transmission is the best of the 3 Evos I've owned, but I guess I'm lucky. My only issue is the hood latch (replacement on order) .

I'm at about 24K on mine, have a Cobb tune all stock on it for about the last 4K and I couldn't be happier with everything about. Getting into 2nd is a bit rough on occasion. I truly think I have the perfect car in all aspects. I hope everything works out for you.

32k miles and going strong! no real complaints here except the cheap plastic interior....

notchy 2nd-3rd, but that went away by itself at around 15K miles

I have 43638 exact! lol. So far my X is good to me. No warranty issues other than what's already mention above. 2 gear is at times but better fluids seem to fix that for me. Good luck with whatever you decide on!

The X is reliable. And like was stated above all the incentives on new evos are driving the used price down.

notchy shifting 2nd to 3rd still with the install of a works short shifter, works console bushings. Digging the shorter throw, but need a short shift knob. My stock one won't go all the way on lol. maybe I should get around to installing the underhood bushings and the notchyness will go away. keep in mind... i have urethane bushings which are self lubricating and they use em on roller coasters. will keep ya updated.
