Question to vendors and owners with Black Anodized FMICs: How does the finish hold up over time?

I love the anodized look, but I'm afraid that after a few thousand miles, little rock chips and dings will made it look like a salt and pepper finish. If I was sure it would stay looking good, I'd opt for black!

Cheers.

PERRIN while more expensive, you get what you pay for in quality, product support, testing and performance. Plus our new 5-year unlimited mileage warranty is included!

I will alway be a fan of Perrin because of the great power I made in my Subie and never had any problems while I was modded.

Looks great too!

I saw ETS said they have 6 different intercoolers for us did you say you can make a cast endtank on the 4''??? Also if I go with the 4'' on a stock turbo does it affect spool at all????

We have an employee here with 5,000 miles on it and it looks perfect still. The ETS logo is slightly faded, but the intercooler looks mint! The Anodizing we use also has UV protection so it won't fade.

We don't use any castings on the evo 8/9/x due to all the variations we can offer. The 4.0" will not increase spool time at all. The only difference you will see is the power increase

Thanks!

Only Buschur -

The problem with the Garrett core for this evo x is the only core available is 18x12 - by using this core you lose 2" of surface area on the intercooler.

most cores are 20x12 - which fills the front bumper opening. The 18" will show end tank in the opening, not the best design for a front mount.

The first thing you want to do is maximize surface area.

Thanks!

Good to know and thanks for such a quick response!!!! I won't be voting since I have my preferences..... and they may be a bit more biased rather based on FACTS.

There is small performance difference between the same size FMIC's.
The weight is one of the most important in the sports car world. The FMIC being the most far away part form the car mid point , it is always a great idea to reduce or keep the weight minimum there. If you buy LIGHTER reputable parts /not ebay/ continiusly you will see after a while a big difference between your car and those who didnt pay attention on it. Small weight savings will lead a bigger one = perfomance gain in every area in the car.
