oil in engine bay

i was inspecting my engine bay and i noticed some oil splatter.

does anyone have an idea of what caused this?

I'm wondering if this is normal/happens alot or a sign of a big problem.

The splatter seemed dryish and it didnt look like enough oil to drip.

Car seems to drive fine.

here are the pics.

looks like someone spray some d-40 to soft the downpipe bolts?
do you still have the underbody plastic cover under your car?
the splash indicates that was originated from below. if you are the only owner of the car and everything works fine, i can only think in an unfourtuned dirt water splash from the street
weird indeed

i will try to take a better picture later tonight.

and i will definitely clean the engine bay after this issue is sorted out.

I'll probably wipe/clean off half of it to see if there is rust or if it cleans off completely.

Looks like theres so residue on the axke shaft boot. Maybe something is coming out of a tiny tear. No that wouldn't make sense, because the centripetal force would cause whatever to be leaking to spray 360 degrees. Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud.

Can you get shots from under the car? Looks like something is spraying out from the bottom. But if that's true, then why does that hose have some residue on the front side?

Yes, please keep us updated. Now I'm curious about what it is--it's scary seeing that from an engine bay.
