once it "breaks in" the cat lets a little more rumble through. If you are just getting a cbe you will still get a great sound, but won't have that break in, due to keeping the stock cat.

No there isn't a power gain after break in.

I had just the cbe on for a couple hours before i put the test and downpipe on, and it still sounded great. I would order specifically from Cobb in plano. They are great to work with, and are SPEEDY with delivery.

Kevin Heist <kevin.heist@cobbtuning.com>

send him an email and tell him Craig referred you, and he may cut ya a deal. you will be really happy with fitment, sound, quality.

i don't work for cobb or anything, I am actually a Marine, and they even cut me a deal for being military (after sending a copy of military ID, which i totally understand).

let me know if you have any more questions, oh and with just CBE it will be even more quiet than the vid

I have the CP-E catback. Our local meetups have about 10 evo x's. It's the quietest of them (excluding the stock ones).

I have a T1R 76S, and I love it. It's very quite in normal driving, and has absolutely no drone.

Quiet exhaust thread and no one has mentioned the Fujitsubo Legalis R?
Not exactly the cheapest option and is only 75mm piping (but no neck down at the cat), but it's fantastic quality and very quiet.

I have the ETS Quiet Version. Nice sound, not overly loud...but there's no doubt you have an aftermarket exhaust. It burbles at idle with a low tone. If shifting at high rpm, it'll backfire every now and again (even with my OEM cat).

When pulling into a parking lot, I don't have everyone looking at me, so I'm assuming it's not too loud, but loud enough for me to enjoy driving that much more. Fit and finish are excellent so I recommend it.

Would the recommendations you guys gave be good for something with no drone? I'm fine with an exhaust being loud but I want to keep the drone to a minimum since I do more highway driving than city. Are there any systems that are deep and somewhat loud (not looking to be super loud) that have little drone? Perfect world would be ETS v.2 with no drone haha.

yeah, that would be great!
I found out when I'm doing 20-30 mph, I can hear some very annoying drone/resonance in the cabinet (windows up), my X is still bone stock at this point... Anyone kinda have the same/similar issue? I hope I could get rid of it after switching to an aftermarkert quiet catback

I think you are talking about engine noise, not exhaust. Our engine is noisy and there is damn near no insulation.

I'm convinced that there's no such thing as a quiet or "barely louder than stock" tbe/tp+cbe exhaust set up.

So like most here, it sounds like the key is to find something that doesn't drone, actually offers performance, and is "value" priced.
