Because, there's no faster way to damage the paint, other than washing a car covered with salt using a sponge, than to pull a cover onto a car that's not pristine-clean and hopefully very slick (the paint surface).
OP, if you do decide to use a cover, make sure of 2 things:
1. Your paint doesn't have a spec of dirt on it
2. The cover, itself, won't mar the paint

You should see my paint. Not a mark on it, short of 5 stone chips in 4 years. You guys can have this, too. It's not a ton of work; there is a process to it and it does take a little time over the course of several weeks. I've talked about this many times. Believe me when I tell you that I don't slow down for much, my paint is (almost) perfect, and I attribute it almost solely to maintenance. Stop by the detailing forum.

You should have that as a car protection.I also suggest to visit eye protection sign for more useful information.

How about you park your car in a garage, if you don't have a garage, get a house with a garage or if you don' want a garage, move to where it doesn't snow.
I have a house with a garage and live in a place where it doesn't snow.
Never have to worry ever about **** like this....
