Question for you guys

Hello everyone so I had a question since I am new to the whole turbo awd scene. I' am looking at modding my X but not sure what to exactly do. I want to keep the car fairly stock and reliable as it will be my daily. I was thinking a re-flash, air intake, cat back exhaust and calling it good. With these mods will the car see over 300awhp on stock boost?

Which are good companies to do re-flashes through or even buy exhaust's? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say intake, intercooler piping, exhaust and a tune would be a fun dd.

Just search around here and you will find everyones preferred brand of intakes, exhausts etc.

Okay will do. This Cobb Ap how does it work? Plugs into the ecu then you upload a tune to it or what?

Cobb AP is a very simple way to go; it comes with a variety of base maps so you pick the one that most closely matches the mods you have on your car. A few basic mods go a long ways on these cars, I do recommend you also look into a highflow cat or testpipe since the stock catalytic converting is going to be the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust system.

Okay yeah if I can get a high flow cat that will pass emissions I' am all for it. I see this product:

AMS High Flow Cat Mitsubishi EVO X 08+

Anyone using it? Then this should bolt up to any other catback exhaust no problem. right?

Yup, the AMS should bolt up to any other catback. I know Cobb and ETS also have one, along with quite a few other vendors. Search around a bit and find the one that best fits your budget and needs. I recommend you get one with a bend in it to help clear the driveshaft mount. Mil.Spec has a really nice 100-cell HFC, if I were to put one on my car (I run a testpipe) this would be it.

A HFC most likely will not pass the emission but it does help reducing the smell of the fuel and its not as loud as a test pipe.

If you are taking the route of cobb tuning, I would suggest you get an intake that is supported by a off the shelve Cobb map like AMS, AEM

Ah so you're looking for around 300whp? That's pretty easy to achieve with these cars. With the Cobb AccessPort (Cobb AP), a Stage1 flash will get you PRETTY close to 300whp if not over. With a Stage2 map, you'll definitely break 300whp.

Cobb has a bunch of Off The Shelf (OTS) maps and for different brand intakes. I'd say you forget about the intake and just go with a High Flow Cat (HFC), the catback of your choice, and the Cobb AP. Flash to the Stage2 map and you're good for 300+whp.

Here's a link to Cobb's OTS map library. I saw by your forum name that you have an '08 so I went ahead and linked that library specifically. Each map has its own notes (many of which tend to be the same). Read through the notes and it will tell you what you need to run that map.

For you, I'd take a look at the ones named "Stage1 93 Octane" and "Stage2 93 Octane".

If you really want an intake, you can go through that webpage and see which intakes they support. There's AMS, Injen, AEM, etc just to name a few.

Also, here is a link to my latest results. I go through the entire process of what my car has undergone. It might help you make some choices and you can see first hand how much the OTS maps differ with various mods:

Hope that all helps!

They also support the Cobb SF intake (obviously).

That's not bad at all. Seems like it would be suitable for DD use.
