The 2010 owner's manual states 5k miles. If anything, 5k miles, even modded with spirited driving, is overkill. If you're truly worried about it send your oil in for analysis to Blackstone Labs (it could potentially save you hundreds, if not thousands, over the life of the car).

Some people just change it a lot during the first few hundred miles to get all the particles out.

As Kracka suggested, go with what the manual says. It's really not that big of an issue.

I did mine at 1400 with the free oil change coupon.

One camp is around 500, the other around 5000

changing synthetic oil pre 3k miles is absolutely silly

I'm all for doing the first change earlier than 5k...I'll be doing mine at 3k

but after that the oil isn't even breaking down before 3k miles so what's the point it's just throwing money away

sure if you have a built motor and big turbo I'm with you but on a car with bolt on's...it's just silly

Exactly right kracka ..I had a friend mit..tech working at the dealer ship and builds motors and said the same thing to me ..When breaking in the stock motor (not built)Two different things you want not beat on it and do the first oil change at 5 to 6k due to special oil mit.has in it for sealing the rings and proper break in..Then he said change it after every 3 to 5 k depends on how the car is driven but for anyone running high amounts of boost and drive the car hard every day 2 to 3 k.

I'm guessing with that approach you either stay away from motor sporting with the Evo or you don't plan on hitting 100,000 miles

The oil does cool the turbo. The oil looks and smells bad at 5000, and definitely shows it's ugly side at 3000 miles. But perhaps you don't hit 7500 rpms either?

Me, I change mine at 3000-4000 if I've not done anything bad to it; I change it right after every HPDE and if I take it to the 'strip, changing it at 1500-2000 miles.

I'm at 45000+ miles and have changed it more than 15 times. It is what it is. Maintenance, preventative maintenance.

Why do y'all think the saying is "YMMV"? My last car ran like a top at 330,000 miles, no engine problems EVAH. The better you take care of your Evo, the better it will take care of you. I'm in my relationship for life. Everyone has their own plans though.
