The Forum Wars: Season 2 (Results inside)
WRX owner here
I've been a quiet member of these forums for some time. I've been a NASIOC member even longer. My story is simple. I've had my 02 WRX ten years next month. Nice car. It's not an STi. One day, quite a few years back, I tested an EVO8 for giggle and grins. That thing was awesome, even compared to my APS/Cobb REX. One thing really stood out: the steering. It got in my head so bad I found a new rack for my car: 11.5:1 Now I can't sell my car because I can't give up the steering!
But, be it known that if I could get a new car today, I'd get the EVO SE ( I think it's called). I read a great comparison test in the March issue of Road and Track. The EVO still holds it over the STi, even though the EVO is heavier. I don't think Subie will ever get a twin clutch ato-manual tranny. Too bad. In the EVO it's great. Don't get me wrong. I'd like the EVO to have a better interrior, but the driving package is untouchable by the STi, imo, and from what I've read online.
So don't be confused. It's not about NASIOC versus this forum. Misinformation is a mis-service to all car nutz.

And if you did want an SE, good luck finding one, I think there's only about 10 left for sale in the country. They were a limited run for 2010. A 2011 base MR is basically the same as a 2010 SE but a bit more expensive.
The video was fixed to say Turbocharged Inline 4 vs. 2.5 I4 FYI

Good job to both drivers.
I agree with everyone's comments about the noticeable difference in "driver specializations" instead of just a straight up car vs car comparison. I wish the producers of this show would just pick the cars and then have a single driver, a Pro drive them both. Kind of like what MotorTrend had done in this video of mustang vs m3.

They had stats AND Randy Pobst's comment on both cars which I thought was the best part of the video.
In the end everyone's out for ratings and drama. This was almost like a Real World Fast n Furious show.

So we now know two things about the people producing "The Forum Wars"
1. They know very little about cars.
2. They don't stick to their word and their own rules.
Regardless of whether or not the Evo won or lost, those two things pretty much make the show a joke in my opinion. This probably sounds stupid, but it even makes me question whether or not I should run Royal Purple in my car since that's the main sponsor.
Apparently we have lost twice now.
Guess thats what happens when you chose a drag racer for a show that has two events that actually require some driving finesse. They probably did that on purpose. Boltz seemed like a better choice considered the events they did.

i think josh did a good job, from what i understand he didnt get much practice on the autocross portion of it and that would have been an advantage. still i think he represented the evo well versus a driver that is a professional autocrosser.

From: Why do they always call the Evo the Dark Side?
I don't think you understand how this amateur motorsport thing works.
Anyway - it was forum wars - not perfectly scientific all variables removed wars. You don't like it - find a different driver next time, and then complain when he loses at the drag race instead.
+1! And I'm not agreeing because we lost twice either. As I stated above, the shows a joke and is very poorly produced so why bother?
