My first Evo i drove it in the winter and i told myself i will never do it again. Chicago winters suck and the salt and snow just ruins the car. Now my Evo just sits in the garage covered untill spring time
Yeah this is my concern, I hope I can get through the winter without any damage - I will be washing the car at the very least weekly....

I guess I would be washing it weekly anyway even if I lived in California.

i really want the floormats and mudflaps but im not dropping the kind of money on them for 1 winter(plan on living in arizona before next winter)
I reccomend those "weather tec" mats. I was pretty impressed with their fit. The ones for the evo have really high sides so when your swinging your leg over the huge ground effects you dont drag dirty boots/shoes across the carpet. They are expensive but worth it in my opinion.

You guys are horrible hiding stuff from your wife's bc they would never understand us! Right? i mean why put money in a car? (Womens point of veiw) You all think your the only ones hiding crap! How much you wanna bet your wives are buying clothes, shoes, painties, bra's well you may notice those at night unless your in the garage working on the evo! Point is we dont understand the clothes thing. But you all arent the only ones hiding it. Your wife is probably on a womens forum posting Ha ha my husband thinks i spent 300 bucks this weekend but i really spent 600.

I respect penny pincher wives! They make life alot easier! I learned also to start doing that bc in the young years i spent every penny on a car mod.

i agree 100%. I was homeless for a good amount of time before i hit 20 and joined the Marines. She was just poor, and then joined the Marines. The only reason i spend money on the X is 1) i sold my prelude SH (perfect in my eyes at the time) to go to japan together for 3 years instead of apart for 1.

We saved up 100g's cash (2g's a month savings plus good stock investments)and that is how i got my X paid in full, and left overs to buy mods. We also furnished a brand new home and are going to buy her nissan juke cash. Anyways, i may spend a good amount of green on the X but we saved over 3 years for it!

You could have gotten a cheaper set of mats for the X. I bought some from walmart for my VIII and they worked great for a few years and only paid 20 bucks or so. Although those mats do look good actually lol. I still need to do a winter detail to get the paint prepped on the car. You should at least hit up a harbor freight and pick up some Collinite 845 wax. Its like 6-10 bucks and protects the rest of your paint for up to 6 months and I can vouch for this. I've used it every winter for the last 3 years and really worth the money.

The only way I could stomach driving this thing in the winter is to make absolutely sure there was going to be as few paint chips as possible in the spring thus I had to spend some cash....

Complete 3M front end bra (with mirrors) $500.00
Winter tires mounted and balanced $700.00
Ralley Armour mud flaps $150.00
Weather tec mats $200.00

So give or take getting this car ready for winter :$1500-$1600

At the end of the day worthwhile I guess since I really couldnt handle seeing my front end getting peppered to mush ....but wow my wallet is still smoken'

Anyone feel my pain?
Totally feel your pain here too, got pretty much the same setup as you. Not cheap.
