$1500 to get the evo winter ready :(

Well, I just finished ordering everything to get the car ready for the winter. This is a brand new 2010 Evo x GSR.

The only way I could stomach driving this thing in the winter is to make absolutely sure there was going to be as few paint chips as possible in the spring thus I had to spend some cash....

Complete 3M front end bra (with mirrors) $500.00
Winter tires mounted and balanced $700.00
Ralley Armour mud flaps $150.00
Weather tec mats $200.00

So give or take getting this car ready for winter :$1500-$1600

At the end of the day worthwhile I guess since I really couldnt handle seeing my front end getting peppered to mush ....but wow my wallet is still smoken'

Anyone feel my pain?

If you are going to drive it in the winter every year, you might as well just get another set of wheels to just keep the winter tires on.

Add that to the list of things to get.

I live in Canada too, and will spend 1000$. Bought a set of Dunlop used tires for 400$, still have three winters left. Bought a set of rims, cheapest possible, RTX S5 for 500$. Then another 100$ for the installation. damn, a lot of money guys!

I'll trade our summers for yours though.

Especially in Florida/Alabama, 98 with 80% humidity. Can't even breath when you walk outside. I visited family in Michigan last year, and wow.. amazing. It was like 70 and breezy everyday, felt Like Hawaii.

My first Evo i drove it in the winter and i told myself i will never do it again. Chicago winters suck and the salt and snow just ruins the car. Now my Evo just sits in the garage covered untill spring time

I treat my all wheel drive adventure car as...well....an all wheel drive adventure car. Snow or no snow, no pampering here!

Screw all of the things you just said and invest in washing your car weekly with an underbody spray too.

My evo is 10 years old and has NO rust on it, nor paint chips.

And I drive in buffalo NY, destroyer of cars. We use more salt every winter than china uses in a year on food.
