owned an evo 8, re-join dark side with an X?

So I sold my 8 almost a year and a half ago, she was running around 350whp, nothing special compared to most on here but was special and very quick to me.

Currently drive a bmw 335i with a tune pushing around the same as my evo was.

Fancy a change now, should I be looking at an x? Not driven one yet but honestly speaking the 335i doesn't come close to the 'excitment' of my 8. Although it excels in other areas.

Looking for opinions from people who maybe have been in a similar situation, owned an 8 or 9 then perhaps went German for a year or so and have moved back to the dark side with an x. Really interested to hear what you have to say.

I currently have an EVO VIII pushing 350 whp, a X at 300, and a 328i. I prefer to drive my X the most because it is a happy medium between raw fun of the 8 and all the comforts of the bimmer. If I really wanna rip on it, the 8 wins hands down, if I have to sit in the seat for 2 hours, I drive the 328...

Guess you can say the X is the Goldielocks of my cars.

Thanks for your input, I like where your going about the X. Seems it might be ideal for me as a cross between my old 8 and current 335i.

On the other hand I think we both agree that the X won't give me the sheer thrill of driving an 8? or am I wrong here?

Am I right in thinking that the X is as tuning friendly as the 4g63 was?

I think I need to book me in for a test drive.

I dunno theres something about evo's that just keeps bringing me back

Evo to bimmer eh? Thats quite the contrast of each other... if you miss your evo 8 then go to the X

I used to have an evo 8. Got rid of it and an r56 mini cooper s to have a c6. Loved the vette, but it was boring to drive around town. The evo is a hoot driving around town, as you well know. So I picked up an evo x a few months ago. Then I traded my vette for a tacoma to DD. The vette was cool and all, and was a hell of a lot nicer on the highway for a road trip, but I didn't crave to drive it hard in town like I used to in my evo. When I got the evo x I found myself enjoying small 10 mile drives just to have fun. I also had a friend who had two evo's then a 335 and a 135, then is back to a evo x haha.

ive had an viii (330whp), fully built ix (580whp), and now an x(currently at 330whp). i loved my viii and ix but lacked a certain "class" if you will, the interior. i despised the boring interior of them. now im in my x and love it. still quick, handles great, and the interior is far better than its predecessors. has certain knacks like outside temperature gauge and what not.
My buddy had 3 evos and a bmw 335i (all at the same time) and always chose to drive his evos over the bmw.

I am military and lucky to be stationed in Germany. When it comes to driving to work - whether ripping down the autobahn or taking the backroads, I prefer taking the X. I usually take it 3-4 times a week and the VIII the other 1 or 2. However, I've been to the 'Ring 5 times last year and only once the VIII stayed at home.

It's weird because when I sold my 8 all I craved was the 335i, it's not that I don't like the 335, it's a great car to drive and own.

I admit the 8 had an image problem but where I live so do bmw 3 series cars.

My VIII and X are pushing about the same power. I sold the VIII to get the X and haven't looked back... until recently (explained below).

I'll take a X hands down over an VIII for just about anything. I think it's a lot more fun to drive with AYC. It corners so perfect. With just a rear sway, I don't get any understeer, and can kick the *** end out whenever I want.

With that being said, I'm giving my X to my wife and getting an VIII again. The only reason is because I want to track a lot more this year, and I don't want to put a 30-40k car into the wall. I'll take a X over an VIII at the track, but with the ability to get salvaged VIIIs for under 8k, is attractive.

I did the same and I was 50/50...I missed the thrill and rawness of the ix but liked the creature comforts of the x

I sold the x because of a job relocation and extended travel
