Ive heard it it's from overspray from the anti-corrosion undercoating burning off, hence why some cars dont smell. Not sure about the evo but I know some cars have the coating applied at the dealership believe it or not.

I had the same thing happen. I wouldn't worry about it.

Same with mine. Seems like it took a couple months to go away. It was pretty strong now that you mention it.

My dealer told me that also. I guess that is the issue unless they all collaborated and made up some story.

I'd say no. When I picked up my car it had a handful of miles.. 7 if i remember right. I'm sure they were all short distance. I drove home.. around 10 miles, and when I pulled in the garage i had smoke coming out of the hood vents from coatings burning off.

Just took delivery this week and I noticed the same. I'm only at 66 miles, figured it would go away soon.

When she was BRAND NEW, I got the burning coating smell. But now @ 3000 miles it just smells like hot metal. Only noticible right after driving and putting her in the garage.

I used to have a similar problem in my IX. I cut out the Taco Bell, and the problem seemed to fix itself.

My SE now has about 3500 miles on it now... the burn smell seems to come and go. It got pretty thick there around the 2K mark, but is slowly letting up.

It's normal for a new car to do this. When it's brand new and it hasn't really been run that much everything is still breaking in. I personally remember my brother's car (2011 impreza) smoking out of the hood/wheel well area and smelled like plastic and rubber. Yes you all may hate subarus but I actually like both... both manufacturers are japanese so similar traits take place between the two.

this is normal. When you get a new exhaust it will happen all over again.
